The description was “moderately challenging”. It’s a bit more than that. Just beautiful at the river. Perfect for private swimming. If you find my driver’s licence in the river (fell out when I took out my camera) please return it!

Second time to have visited the forest.

Two options, 3km or 9km walk.

Both walks are amazing with beautiful views of the forest. The sounds of all the birds and animals are amazing to experience.

A beautiful walk through indigenous forest, which crosses three streams. Generally an easy 6.5km walk, but with one long descent and a steep and stepped ascent. Moderate level of fitness required. A lovely opportunity to immerse oneself in one of Knysna's old forests. Plenty of birdlife if you're fast enough to spot them.

We could not have enjoyed this experience more! It was unforgettable, amazing, awesome, moving, beautiful and thrilling ... all at once!

Arriving 30 minutes early, the walk starts with a short and helpful video on safety and Do's & Don't's. The staff are extremely professional and Knysna Elephant Park is very well run - with the safety of the customers, the elephants and the Team the absolute priority in equal measure. We felt safe at all times during our visit.

We took a short trip in the open air transport to reach the elephants and were also treated to seeing 8 healthy zebra roaming en route!

We purchased a R45 (£2.50) bucket of food to feed the beautiful elephants, which consisted of figs, carrots, apples and papaya(?) ... and they loved it! The 5 female elephants arrived and lined up behind a wooden bar, and it was easy and safe to hand them the food which they took with their trunk! It was amazing!

Then the 7 Guides calmly encouraged the elephants to start the walk and each was paired with one person and the 40 minute walk commenced. Our Guide (Fanwell) was very helpful and informative, providing many interesting facts as we walked.

We were thrilled to walk with 33 year old Sally, a female elephant who was one of the first two orphaned elephants to arrive at the park in 1994. She is a majestic, beautiful animal and had a calming energy - we absolutely loved the entire experience of walking alongside Sally with the Guide close to hand. We have already booked to return next year.

You will not be disappointed if you choose to book this once in a lifetime experience, it is truly memorable for all the right reasons!

Thank you to the entire Team who made our visit such a wonderful experience!

We, two men and a 2 year old, loved this walk (an did see a tooraco!) but you have to cross several times the creek by stepping stone to stone and that is not easy nor safe with a toddler on your back. And we did loose the way because there were no indications on a tricky spot. Luckily some old ladies just arrived and "saved" us. We felt quite clumsy and stupid :-)

If you need to feel and experience nature at its best this is the most easy, wonderful and fatty hiking nature trail to do in Harkerville.... if you think 9 kilometers is long well with this one you don't feel it because the footpaths are great and in good shape. Along the way nice stops to have a break, a nice waterfall, great guidance on how far are you on the route. The quiteness sometimes take you away but suddenly you hear noices of birds, baboons. Great outdoor nature activity for the family. Enjoyed this hiking trail. You don't have to be fit only love nature....

The trail starts at the Pezula golf course, and you have to walk a way on the golf cart path. The trail is through the forest and steep down to the sea. It is not well marked, and we lost the trail on a few occasions. This is a good one if you want to explore rather than stroll.
