- sandinmyjandalsMuscat, Oman43 contributionsWe had a quick stop in George for the night and upon some research on what to do, found out about the transport museum. It is free to enter. If you are a train enthusiast you will enjoy this museum with lots to see. We called in an hour before closing time, ideally one and half hours would have been better to fully appreciate what the museum had to offer.Written 4 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Desigan_NaikMidrand, South Africa798 contributionsMy kids absolutely loved it here and we all had a blast.
Climbing the giant strawberry gave a great view of the fields and surrounds and some great panoramic photos.
Kids thoroughly enjoyed the strawberry picking and we had two little baskets full. I recommend doing this activity early in your trip so have a few days to snack on the strawberries picked. We did this the day before leaving so had to leave much of ours behind at the resort.
Kids also enjoyed the play areas and also tried out the bubble ball activity and water boats a couple times.
We also purchased tickets for the maze but ran out of time as they advised that it takes an hour and they were closing soon.
We ate at the deck restaurant as we had good visibility of the kids play area, beef and chicken burgers were very good. Wife also had a vanilla tea and an enormous scone that was awesome!
We got there around 11h30 and had run out of time to do all the activities by 4pm so would recommend setting aside a full day especially as other restaurants also offer wine and whisky tasting and pairing etc. which we also did not get around to!Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Each site has its own private and clean ablutions with a basin, shower and toilet supplied with toilet paper and regularly cleaned. A wash line and electricity. And a shared double sink to wash dishes. Friendly service and secure campsite with a locked gate for easy access down to the beach. Great service from the staff.Written 6 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeanette Oberholzer10 contributionsWonderful market.... Even while it was raining softly. Beautiful flowers, fresh veggies, pickles, jams, cheeses, and so many more. People where sitting under the trees and covers chatting away, eating yummy prepared foods with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. Well worth the visit.Written 26 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dean TKingston, Canada31 contributionsThis drive is so beautiful, especially on a warm sunny day. If you are lucky you can see the clouds roll over the mountains from the other side of George. So amazing to witness.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- PeterRiyadh, Saudi Arabia236 contributionsNext time you're near George, turn off the main road and take the Montagu Pass. We've driven it in both directions, and it offers some of the best scenery in the area. The road is easily accessible to sedan cars, and has plenty of places for you to stop and take in the views. Pack some refreshments and just take a slow drive.Written 31 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. People from the area have donated family treasures and now you can have a coffee and pancake in a place which looks like a museum, feels like Ouma's house and gives good vibes.Written 1 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlanJohannesburg, South Africa54 contributionsThe rooms (luxury suites) were superb, although one of our rooms did not have bottled water on the first day. Another had a complimentary bottle of wine while the others didn't. Not sure how that works. The breakfasts and the meals we had at La Cantina and Monet were delicious. We initially couldn't get a dinner booking for La Cantina but Zumeka (?) came through for us. The service at the Club lounge was a bit on the slow side.
Due to a personal emergency we had to cancel one of our rooms, and while Fancourt was fully within their rights to charge a 90% cancellation fee, we received a full credit for the room for future use.
All the staff are courteous and friendly. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome . A big 'Thank you' to Thandi, Shiona, Vertozille and Jamie who assisted with our hotel, golf and spa bookings.
Three days was not enough to make use of all the facilities. The golf courses are in excellent condition and a pleasure to play. The staff there are on the ball.
We were here 10 years ago, and the high standards then are just as good now. We will definitely return.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
