Highly recommend hiking up here for sunrise, the views were absolutely incredible, you can literally watch the sun rise over Cape Town, you will want to take loads of photos. Do not need to go with a guided tour - totally unecessary. There were a few other people hiking up but to be honest it's a bit impossible to get lost. Would definitely recommend taking lots of water (probably 2 litres per person) as the way down was extremely hot. Way up is obviously pitch black so take a head torch or use your phone torch. Would not recommend if you are scared of heights, there are steep drops.

My wife and I began our South African adventure with a trip to Signal Hill to just get a taste of all the beauty in store for us. From there you can easily see Table Mountain which we will see shortly. For now, just take it in bit by bit.

Amazing beach. Water is cold but beautiful and nice sand. I went to the second one. Thousands steps to get the beach but worth the effort

This is a very interesting part of Cape Town to visit but best done with a guide. There is a fair bit of history here, but it is much more meaningful to have someone tell you what you are looking at. There are also a bunch of interesting art galleries, and a wonderful Turkish spice store.

Had a pleasant stroll on the beach, at the weekends there are more visitors and overall I had a nice few hours just chilling out. In comparison to when I first visited this area, it has changed a lot and not always for the nicest of reason. Overall, I would come back again as this is a nice Bay Area and beach to visit.

Stopped for coffee, a soup and a curry. Excellent service in the cafe. Food was high quality. Great and value. The bread selection was amazing but I suggest you ask for a doggy bag as it's very good but lots of it. Ideal stop for couples and families. Maybe we will try to get back here for lunch or dinner.

We had a pleasant morning at the Company's Gardens and enjoyed learning about the history of the gardens as a way station for ships rounding the Cape. It's a great place for people-watching — we saw a bride and her attendants, a martial arts class in progress, and families picnicking.

The gardens are very close to the National Gallery, which is small but definitely worth a visit, and the Iziku South African museum, which features some spectacular ancient rock art.

The white squirrels in the garden were very interesting, but take note that people feed them, and they have become very bold. We even saw children holding them on their laps and feeding them peanuts!

Warning: We stopped for lunch at the restaurant in the gardens, which looked inviting but was a nightmare. (I should have paid attention to online reviews.) Our server seemed to deliberately ignore us, and we spent over an hour waiting for the bill. The same thing happened to the family at the table next to ours. Finally I had to walk up to the register to pay for our meal. My son and I both felt unwell after lunch and think it's because the food sat out for so long before it was delivered to our table.

A great destination for a day trip from Cape Town. Sun, surf, clean sand and plenty of bars and restaurants if you need anything or need a break from the heat.
The beach is 23km long so walks go on forever. The water is warmer here than on the Atlantic beaches too. You can use the colourful huts to get changed and there are showers to clean up before you leave.
You can drive and park here for free, but we took the train, which was cheap and safe. Just make sure you sit with other people.

A wonderful, yet streneous out-and-back hike along the coast from Sandy Bay, near Llundudno. Hikers are advised to approach the wreck with caution, and avoid swimming in the rip-currents around the wreck. Take enough water and pack lunch for a picnic at the wreck!

The BOS 400 was a French derrick/lay barge that ran aground while being towed by a Russian tugboat on June 26, 1994 after the towing cable snapped during a storm.

The shipwreck is considered a total loss, and BOS 400 remains a wreck today, with a large crane and part of the superstructure visible above sea level. The wreck is slowly disintegrating due to exposure to the elements.

We were lucky enough to visit Greenpoint Park on Freedom Day, the anniversary of the first free elections in South Africa post-apartheid. It was an uplifting experience to see families picnicking and dancing, and children playing in this lovely setting. The educational signs are well written and get the point across clearly and succinctly. There's a lovely water feature for children to play in, a water wheel, water lilies, green expanses, and many varieties of beautiful plants and trees.
