Barry is an excellent guide, very informative, caring without being fussy and made the experience so much better than if I had gone on my own.
    Highly recommended.
Lion’s head at sunrise is awesome.
    Great trip.

I had high expectations for this hike, and was not disappointed! It's a beautiful, less visited side of the mountain with spectacular views and varied scenery. Johan was a brilliant guide, giving us loads of interesting information about history, flora and fauna on the way. It's a steep route so you need a reasonable level of fitness or be prepared to push yourself, but it's well worth the effort.

We hiked Kasteelspoort with Steph and Skeleton Gorge with Mike. Two great trails, two brilliant, patient and wonderfully relaxed guides. We have a strong interest in botany so we booked private hikes and they were really keen to satisfy our goals of seeing the stunning orchids in bloom.
Everything impressed us about Hike Table Mountain. The detail and quality of their information online was second to none and from the first contact with Riaan and the efficiency with which he put our 2 days together we knew that we would be in good hands.
Neither trail is a ‘walk in the park’ but nor did we find them overly tough (we love walking, late 40s/early 50s). No one tried to hurry us along. Kasteelspoort was the slightly easier of the two, and more panoramic while Skeleton Gorge started in stunning Kirstenbosch, with a stronger focus on the native forest and plants of the National Park.
Being led by Steph and Mike meant we were able to completely relax and enjoy the experience without worrying about losing our way. Very early starts yes but to be out at dawn on both days only added to the magic. We met very few people along the way compared with at the cable car station. Indeed we feel very lucky to have experienced a very different side of a visit to Table Mountain, much more rewarding than just going up and down in the cable car.

This walk was truly spectacular. Riaan suggested this route, and it was perfect for our group, which included two teenagers. The kids practically bounced up the mountain, and were disappointed when the scrambles were over. The route is beautiful and cleverly weaves around the mountain, meaning it's not too steep and provides a variety of majestic views. Hendré, our guide, was fun, patient and very knowledgeable. I encourage everyone who gets a chance to do this walk!

Lauren is a fantastic guide. One of our friends has poor eye sight. Laurent guided him throughout the hike with care and professionalism. We had an amazing day climbing up and down the mountain. We can't wait to return and hike more routes with her.

Patrick is a super guide! He is very patient, attentive to everyone's needs and levels, funny, knows a lot about the mountains, the fauna and flora, and provides good anecdotes and historical and cultural facts. We did the Table Mountain hike (via the Platteklip route), which is a less technical route but still provides stunning views. We came down via the Cable Car after a stop at the restaurant at the top. Thanks to Patrick for being so professional. Highly recommend him !

PS - Bonus point, he can also speak French !

I January 2024 I did a full day of rock climbing at Table Mountain with Kai. I knew Kai from a previous climbing tour and contacted him if we could climb table mountain together. Kai is a very skilled climber and explains every expect of the climb very well which makes climbing with Kai a very nice and learningful experience. We did 2 multi pitch trad routes in which we also touched some more serious sections (french 6B). So if you are already a more experienced climber as I'm (7a red point), it's a lot of fun to go climbing with Kai on table mountain!

Kai runs a professional business with high regard for safety. Communication beforehand super and Kai is just a super friendly and nice guy to be around.

Bottom line I highly recommend climbing with Kai and for people who haven't climbed table mountain yet, do it! It's an amazing experience, the rock is fantastic and the views over Cape Town and the coast line makes it very special.

    Review for mark
Initially, we booked a tour as we were concerned about safety (crime) and wanted to make sure that we had someone knowledgable to take us up. However, I completely underestimated how much value mark would add to our walk.

The day started out with a heavy mist/cloud which cloaked the mountian, but that in no way tempered our experience. Mark is an excellent guide. In terms of timing and pacing he was perfect. Mark stopped frequently, and helped us to manage our efforts, so getting to the top felt like a breeze. At every stop Mark would point out a flower, or bird or recount a story from his times working on the mountian (he was a ranger before becoming a guide).

His passion for the mountian and its history was infectious, and we got so much more out of the walk than we bargained for.

The fact the sun came out at the top was an added bonus - to be honest I still would have highly rated this experience of it had been cloudy all day.

After we made the booking Phil quickly contacted us. We had booked a sunset hike, but Phil informed us that unfortunately the weather was not going to allow this. He suggested another time and we accepted. The quick contact, the follow-up, the checking of the weather forecast gave us immediate confidence. Our hike went ahead in perfect weather conditions. Phil took our pace into account throughout the hike. There was a lot of room for questioning and conversation. We felt like we had a friend along for the walk. Not only did we have our personal guide with us, but also our personal photographer. Thanks to Phil, we enjoyed a fantastic hike and on top of it we have great photos. We would more than recommend him!!! Thank you, Phil!

Yvette was just the perfect guide. She made sure we were completely comfortable the whole way through and we never felt rushed. She was also very encouraging and patient. It was also much welcomed how she shared much about the nature on Lion’s Head and about Cape Town in general with us. She took great photos for us as well. We would recommend her for sure!
