The 3 day tour from Cape Town was relatively expensive (for Australians) but worth every penny. All the Africa Mojo staff were punctual with pickups, friendly, professional. I was picked up at 4am at my Cape Town hotel and taken to the airport for the FlySafair domestic flight to Johannesburg. There we were met by Isaac, who drove us the 400km to Hazy View, a town just outside Kruger park where my accommodation at Woodlands Guest House was. Mojo provided snack boxes for the trip and we stopped at a petrol station stop for lunch and toilet break about an hour out of Johannesburg on the freeway. There were even heaps of African animals at the petrol stop! Woodlands has three rooms and I was lucky to get the top floor one with a king bed and massive bathroom. The decor was reminiscent of Karen Blixen's house from Out of Africa - lovely and very appropriate for the setting. There was a small pool, verandahs and lovely gardens around the guest house. We went for an afternoon game drive after checking in and our guide.
Our driver Mosu took is into the Kruger park. We had only gone 100-200 metres and saw three elephants knocking down a small tree right next to the road! We say the Big 5 that afternoon and had a great time. here were two other guests on the tour so our safari truck only had three people plus the driver/guide. Many other tours had up to 10 visitors in the same type of truck, and there were even larger buses with many more people. We all loved having essentially a private game drive with just three of us.
The second day was a full day game drive. Our guide was Given, who picked us up at 5.30am. The sunrises and sunsets in Africa or gorgeous. Breakfast and lunches were in the park, and dinners were at restaurants in Hazy View near the guest house. We saw a family of cheetahs next to our truck and got great pictures and videos, and further along we say leopards. We also sam several lionesses that day, plus rhino, hippo, Cape buffalo, thousand of impala, waterbuck, kudu, crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, many zebra families and literally dozens of elephants, some 5-10 m from our truck. All in all, a wonderful day as we were also lucky with weather - dry and around 30C.
The final day we were picked up again at 5.30 am by Given and did another half day drive, then lunch and check out of the guest house. Isaac drove us the 400 km back to the airport for the flight to Cape Town, and we were again picked up and taken to our respective hotels by Mojo staff. This was really the perfect safari tour!
