I took my outdoor club to Cape Point Nature Reserve during a camp near Simon's Town. There are two big tidal pools where the kids can swim and relax. Just be on the lookout for baboons when having a picnic. The public toilets are clean and tidy. Visit the two memorial crosses for Da Gama and Diaz. Don't think many Capetonians have been next to them.

Take the steps/path to the top to the lighthouse and skip the easier way with the tram. You'll get a good workout.

We saw an eland a few hundred meters from us between us and the cliff when walking down. The only other animals sighted were lots and lots of seabirds, baboons and 6 ostriches. Would've loved to see more animals in this vast park.

Be prepared for very strong and icy cold wind when going up to the lighthouse.

Breath taking sunset. A plus was that you got to see the night light of the city below and the table mountain silhouette. I went twice to see. Just to remind if you want to get a parking, you should got there an hour earlier so that you could pick a park and a spot to enjoy. Loved it

Lovely one night getaway to celebrate our birthdays. We were upgraded to a beautiful ambassador chalet with beautiful views and a tranquil setting however no hairdryer in the chalet and the drains had a strong odour. The dining experience was mediocre however the breakfast needs some serious work. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however with a little bit of extra effort from the staff and attention to detail it would have been even more memorable.

First time at the World of Birds. It was a good experience and the handout with the history put things into perspective

My second visit but the first time I have opted to do the guided tour - fascinating and informative with the added bonus of getting to see young ostrich. Nosey little guys 😜 Good selection of ostrich product on sale too. #touristguide #touristinmyowncountry #guidedtour #ostrich #ostrichegg #ostrichfeathers #ostrichfarm @gallivantwithg @capepointostrichfarm

It was a very pleasant surprise to find this haven of serenity in the suburbs. The only thing that might be perceived as a negative is that you have to park your car outside. The bird hides are beautifully kept and maintained. It is the complete marshland/vlei experience. The birds are numerous. During mating season which is now, the leopard toads are very vocal. There are around 10 hippos but none to be seen as they are nocturnal.

I went there five years ago to research the vlei as a tourism destination. I enjoyed the birdlife and educational facilities and of course the view towards Table Mountain! As accessibility is an important aspect which Incar Travel Guide always include in our advice to people with special needs, I found the following obvious shortcomings for people in wheelchairs.
While the long walkway to the hide was a very welcome feature I was once again surprised at the little thinking that went into its design. A roller can eventually get to the hide, only to get stuck at the steps at the entrance which is impossible for them to manage!
Secondly, the maintenance of the walkway was poor. There was no ramp to the walkway at its beginning. A section was obviously missing for a very long time. I suspected that when it gets repaired, it will be with steps, because, once again, no thought would be given to rollers.
Surely guys, why do you want people with special needs EXCLUDED! What have they done to you!?
I sincerely trust that these problems had been rectified over the past 5 years!
