My wife and I began our South African adventure with a trip to Signal Hill to just get a taste of all the beauty in store for us. From there you can easily see Table Mountain which we will see shortly. For now, just take it in bit by bit.

Inverdoorn offers great game viewing, beautiful big blue Karroo skies, good food and friendly, warm hospitality.
Our game range, Arshlee was amazing - his incredible eyesight, depth and breadth of knowledge and positive energy made for four fantastic game drives.

Great to see the little monkeys...

The only negative was the lack of help at the end. I had been informed by everyone that ALL places in Cape Town had wifi (to call an Uber, for example). I tried to contact them to confirm this, but no one answered. I went ahead, since everyone told me that all places have wifi, but they did not. That's fine, but when I asked if they could call a taxi or something, no help was given.

worth a stop. you can feed the bird and they have a great gift shop with products from the farm. It was winter and they do not lay eggs in winter so the restaurant was not serving. The staff was very friendly and answered questions cheerfully. If you want an ostrich egg as a souvenir - buy it here - i kept seeing them after our visit, and they were always way more pricey.

I never knew this place existed, such a great walk and so many birds. Take mozzy spray because the first portion of the walk had lots of flying bugs. I would definitely recommend and rate Intaka island specially for birders

It was a very pleasant surprise to find this haven of serenity in the suburbs. The only thing that might be perceived as a negative is that you have to park your car outside. The bird hides are beautifully kept and maintained. It is the complete marshland/vlei experience. The birds are numerous. During mating season which is now, the leopard toads are very vocal. There are around 10 hippos but none to be seen as they are nocturnal.

A short distance form Cape Town and a scenic route slightly off the normal tourist route. Stop in Melkbosstrand for a meal !

I went there five years ago to research the vlei as a tourism destination. I enjoyed the birdlife and educational facilities and of course the view towards Table Mountain! As accessibility is an important aspect which Incar Travel Guide always include in our advice to people with special needs, I found the following obvious shortcomings for people in wheelchairs.
While the long walkway to the hide was a very welcome feature I was once again surprised at the little thinking that went into its design. A roller can eventually get to the hide, only to get stuck at the steps at the entrance which is impossible for them to manage!
Secondly, the maintenance of the walkway was poor. There was no ramp to the walkway at its beginning. A section was obviously missing for a very long time. I suspected that when it gets repaired, it will be with steps, because, once again, no thought would be given to rollers.
Surely guys, why do you want people with special needs EXCLUDED! What have they done to you!?
I sincerely trust that these problems had been rectified over the past 5 years!
