- HansRajCape Town, South Africa18 contributionsTiny houses with striking colours. It certainly arouses curiosity when you pass by these houses. It's a must to stop by these houses when you visit Cape Town.Written 31 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3Â 219 contributionsThis square in front of the Groote Kerk is in Central Cape Town. A statue of Jan Hendrik Hofmeyr is in the middle of the square. He was a South African politician representing the Afrikaander population during the late 1800s. Perhaps a more important monument is in remembrance of the enslaved people that were bought and sold here during the 1700s. It is at a corner of the square near Spin street. Names of the victims are written on black square blocks.Written 26 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ahmed-HashemCairo, Egypt67 contributionsActually I thought that "Palm tree mosque" is the oldest mosque in South Africa but the Imam of the mosque told me about "Al Auwal Mosque" and it was really nice to visit it. It's in Bo-Kaap area which is very famous by it's colorful houses. The mosque is not big but really it's very nice feeling when you visit and pray in the oldest mosque in South Africa which is established by the Indonesian imam Abdullah Qadi Abdu Salaam in 1794 who is also wrote a handwriting copy of a the Holy Quran from memory when he was in the prison and that old copy is still in the mosque till now.Written 13 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
