- Ms. Lew8 contributionsWe loved this tour. Our guide was very good, able to offer his personal perspective having been a prisoner at Robben Island. My only criticism is the length of the tour. There was so much to read and absorb, I wish we could have lingered at the prison longer and spent less time riding around the island. A special thank you to Joseph who worked really hard to make sure we didn’t miss the boat after a communications mix up. - Lyn H22 contributionsBooked tickets in the UK. Very easy via Trip Advisor. Boarding the ferry was also easy.
Once we reached the island, we entered a bus that took us on a tour of the island. The bus was full and quite cramped. There were both English and French speaking on the same bus, so 2 guides were commentating. Not an issue, but had it been just one language, we may have got round a bit quicker as we had to wait at the various stops for both to finish.
There was a 10 minute break at a very limited cafe but it did sell drinks and a cake.
Depending on what side the bus you were on, depended which landmark you were able to see.
Once the bus tour finished, we were met by an ex political inmate who gave us a tour of the prison itself and a little speech at the end about his experience. This also felt rushed as we didn't have time to look at the exhibition.
We then quickly had to leave for the ferry back.
Good tour, the guides were very knowledgeable and would recommend just because of the history.

- BarbF10 contributionsOur halfday trip to Stellenbosch winelands was just a little bit below our expectations. As we are not big on wine drinking, we were thinking that a full day tour would have been too much, but with more information we would probably opt out for it instead. First, pick up times seemed to not have been communicated properly, we were picked up 30 minutes earlier than our ticket suggested, and there was another person that 'wasn't ready on time' so our guide asked him to take an Uber to the first winery. At both wineries, the tables were not ready when we arrived, and waiting times to be seated, for setting up the table and between wines were quite longer than the whole group expected (this is probably not the reflection of the tour organiser, but it didn't seem like our guide was surprised so it might be a regular occurence). With all that, we had no time at all to walk around the winelands, and even the driving tour around the city of Stellenbosch was very short with no stops or historical information. Finally, the wines were also underwhelming, which might have been a result of time limitation and choosing wineries closer to the city. Overall, if you are looking to experience the atmosphere and tastes of South African winelands, I strongly recommend to take a whole day tram tour instead. If you are in a rush and can only dedicate half a day to it, self driving to the best winery might also be for you. All the guides were prisoners at some time. To get actual accounts from our guide, was fascinating and sad.
