- John de MeloJohannesburg, South Africa29 contributionsNice spot. Really cool stores and shops. Worth a visit. Lovely genuine well. Loved the SA curio shop and the Expresso Lab - super funky and worth a visit. SCAM ALERT In nearby Long Street we were approached by a chap saying the street ahead was closed due to filming I was aware of this due to previous review of the area I just gave him a bit of abuse told him it was a scam and he just walked off the road wasn’t closed they try to get you to scan your debit/credit card in case you damage the film set DONT GET CAUGHT OUTWritten 9 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nancy F2 contributionsI had never bought a piece of "real art" before and was quite nervous about taking this step, especially with a gallery on a different continent (I live in the US.) All my interaction with the Christopher Moller Gallery was a pleasure. I cannot say enough kind words about Mr. Moller himself and Mr. Claasen, who arranged all the logistics for shipping insuring, and payment of my unbelievable acquisition of an Ablade Glover painting. Both of them were encouraging, patient with my many questions, humorous and a joy to work with. This was all in all a wonderful experience.Written 5 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Yvette S74 contributionsVery busy, lively market with good organic veggies.. However, the place is so packed you hardly can move. Thus. It has lost quite some of the attraction it had to me some years ago.Written 3 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DamonAtlanta, GA30 contributionsBeautiful art in a beautiful neighborhood!! Very small but packs a punch with the beautiful art that they have. If you're looking for pieces of history and culture this is the place. The artwork was phenomenal. Also got a chance to see the artist creating more beauty while there.Written 22 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Go545790170851 contributionI looked in the window of this lovely store on my first evening in Cape Town, and saw a diamond circle on a chain which I very much liked the look of. Next day I visited the store and was helped by Suraya. She showed me the item I'd seen - it was lovely, but once I had it on I realised it was a little bigger than I wanted. No problem, Suraya had a smaller version, and also showed me some other similar sized pieces. She was very patient and helpful, offered refreshments, and as I was still undecided she put the item on hold for me for 24 hours. Two hours later I'd made my mind up and was back at the store to complete the purchase. As well as putting my purchase in a very nice gift box and providing a small soft bag for it, I was given the paperwork to get a VAT refund at the airport before leaving the country. Since then Suraya has been in touch to provide a valuation certificate.
This is a really lovely store, I've looked in others since and am happy that I made my purchase in Jack Friedman's. Suraya was so kind and helpful, really exceptional service. I will certainly be back there on my next visit to Cape Town.Written 2 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jack CCrawley, UK26 contributionsOne of its major benefits is that there is ample undercover secure car parking - but take care to remember where you park.
The V & A Waterfront is a very good place to spend a few hours during the day enjoying its shopping and tourist attractions and then to enjoy a lovely meal on floating restaurant on a ride around the harbour in the evening accompanied by a good selection of Western Cape wines.
If floating restaurants are not your thing then don't worry as you will be spoilt for choice in land based restaurants.
Note that the name is not Victoria and Albert Waterfront as many people think, the reason being that Albert never visited Cape Town and it was Alfred that actually officially opened the V and A Waterfront.Written 27 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
