And Game Viewing of many Animals including Elephants, Giraffe, Leopard,Monkeys, and many more.Written 16 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. And to do so in the company of an experienced ranger like Nichol who explains how he reads the animals' body language and the signs in the bush to decide on our actions is very special indeed. Back at our camp the incredible sightings continued at the water hole right outside the fence. If you're relatively fit and have a spirit of discovery and adventure, don't hesitate to try one of the Kruger's walking trails.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cruiser213442827562 contributionsWe had the best most soulful time doing the Napi trail with our wonderful guides , Julius and Philemon and Chef Johan. The guides were so helpful and informative. We were a group of 8 ladies and felt very safe. Highly recommend booking this trailWritten 14 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rick_The_BuilderNorth Wales - UK274 contributionsEvery moment was beyond fantastic. There were 8 guests, 2 guides and a camp manager – in a small camp many miles from the nearest human. Everybody got along great, soon after arrival we were sat round the campfire looking over a river & out over the plane spotting all sorts of fantastic animals. The camp was simple, and superbly comfortable. We understand it was getting rebuild with more luxury starting the day we left. Walking in the Kruger park – what a way to experience the park, not just seeing animals from a car window but accessing their space. Just the experience of being so close to nature was magical.
Our guides were fantastic, they got us a few yards from a family of Rhino, along with sighting of many other big animals. More than half the guests were bird spotters – the guides found plenty of exciting birds for them.
The camp manager – James – what a top man, cooked for everybody – and what a superb menu.
On the way home the wheel fell off the gear trailer, we all wanted to go back to camp & stay a few extra days, but unfortunately we were quickly rescued.Written 27 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is the first time most of us walked in the Kruger Park and a few of us were honestly quite anxious about it but our guides (Christopher and sipho) were incredibly knowledgeable and took great Care to keep us safe.
The food (prepared by chef winston) was honest fare but very well made.
The camp is basic but offers a fantastic experience.
We were also taken to 600 year old ruins and dinosaur fossils.
A must for anyone seeing a different way of experiencing the bushWritten 9 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our lead guide Nicol together with assistant Obi and cook Elson were great. The refurbished camp is also a huge improvement on the older camp style. We had great sightings on foot of elephant up close, lions on a kill, and a variety of other game, birds and trees. Nicol was excellent in explaining things big (cosmos, geology) and small (bugs and plants) and everything in between. We felt safe amongst the big game. The terrain is different to other parts of Kruger and special to experience. Aug weather was perfect. But overall, it was Nicol who made the experience so good. - PaigeKleps13 contributionsIf you’re considering doing The Lonely Bull backpacking trail in The Kruger — let this be your sign.
What an incredible opportunity and experience. Our group of 8 was led by Heusten and Don who were friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They took the time to explain so many different aspects of the trail from poop to tracks to birds.
The hike takes place along part of the Tsendze River for the first night and along the Letaba River for the next two nights. It is not a challenging hike as it’s mostly flat, sticking to the river beds. As long as you’re comfortable with carrying your backpack you should be able to enjoy the hike with a low-average fitness level.
The hike is HOT. We hit temperatures of 28 degrees plus, in winter. I definitely would consider doing the hike during the cooler months.
In terms of game viewing it’s incredible to encounter animals on foot however like all things what you see is completely down to luck. If you’re interested in birds then definitely take a small pair of binoculars with you.
This experience is so accessible. And I will 100% be doing the other trails the park has to offer.Written 23 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were very impressed with how they took the "zero impact" policy very seriously, and I can honestly say that we left no trace behind, and we never saw any sign or trace of anyone before us! It was such a privilege to spend time in nature in this way. We were totally bummed on the last day to realize our hike was over. Next time we will book back-to-back and go for six nights!Written 7 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
