We have not long returned from a 7 day safari and WOW! What an amazing trip. All the staff are a real credit to Viva safaris!

To start off, booking the trip was done with ease and even offering help with recommendations of places in Johannesburg to stay and attractions.

We were collected and dropped off by George who was extremely friendly. The drive is quite long but is made easier with a few stop offs and a lunch break. On the way home you stop at Blyde river canyon which the view is breathtaking!

When we arrived at Tremisana we were greeted by Ed who showed us to our rooms and provided our itinerary for the rest of the day.

Shortly after arrival we got straight into the action with a game drive along with a bush bbq in the middle which was great (even a hyena joined us!). Highly recommend doing the bush walk as it’s very exhilarating seeing animals up close on foot! We enjoyed many other game drives in Balule game reserve to which we saw many animals up close, especially with the elephants!

We enjoyed two full days in Kruger which also provided so many great viewings with loads of animals. My favourite were seeing the wild dogs, two lions with two cubs and a huge herd of elephants cross the road right in front and behind our vehicle. I recommend binoculars as some animals can be further from the roads whereas others just walk across/ along the roads. The lunch stop is great at Kruger allowing time for some good food, drinks and shopping.

We also enjoyed the visiting the rehabilitation centre which was great to see some animals close up and very informative with the problems they face on a daily bases.

The lodges are basic but clean and comfortable which is all you need as after all you are in the bush! I enjoyed spending any spare time in the lapa area as just sitting there animals such as hyena, elephants and warthogs wondered past. My dad also thoroughly enjoyed a close encounter with the troublesome elephant that broke into the garden to enjoy the tree! The food choice is slightly limited but very tasty as it’s all fresh and home cooked.

The staff at Tremisana really go above and beyond to make your trip amazing and feel very welcome. The staff were always friendly and happy to help if you needed anything. The communication is exceptional by the staff providing your itinerary for that day or the next and is very well organised.

The guides are what make your holiday! All the guides we had were truly wonderful. They really try their hardest to give you amazing sightings as you cannot guarantee anything. All the guides were really passionate about the wildlife and you could see the enjoyment they experienced when they found animals for their guests to see. Each guide we had made our trip amazing and each of them have such great personalities which really make the drives so fun. Big thanks to them all Ray, Nadine, Victor, Luke, Lucky, KG and Andries.

We didn’t want to leave as this trip has given us many magical moments so much so, that we are already talking about how soon we can come back!

    Thank you Viva Safaris!

This was an absolutely wonderful introduction to a safari. We got picked up at our Johannesburg hotel and driven to Kholiwe lodge. We spent 2 nights there, going on 4 safaris into Kruger National Park.

Transportation: the drivers to and from the airport were on time, very polite, and accommodating. They answered our questions and stopped when breaks were needed.

Lodging: the accommodations were great. AC in the bedrooms made it comfortable. Meals were provided and were excellent. The rooms were clean and we felt safe when in the lodge. One day we fed a family of warthogs right at the front door. Another day a couple of silver monkeys came and we fed them. One of us even got the feed a kudu that came up to the lodge.

Safaris: the guide we had was Aubrey. He was amazing. He was in constant touch over the radio with other drivers to find the places to go in the park. Aubrey often would spot animals hidden in the bushes. We saw lions on each trip into the park. Elephants, including a herd with very young ones. Buffalo, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, baboons, hyenas, wild dogs, impalas, crocodiles, and many species of birds. It was incredible.

Management: Balanta Tours was in constant touch via WhatsApp. They answered questions we had from before we got picked up through the final day we were there. They offered to help with whatever we needed. Very good customer service.

We had an amazing experience with Elephant Herd! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company! They were incredibly knowledgeable, accommodating, professional, warm, friendly, and honest. The owners are clearly passionate about their work, which comes across in everything that they do. Their staff of rangers and drivers were also very impressive and they, too, share a passion for their work. We ended up booking five adventures with this company and they all were fantastic! We learned a lot about the animals, the culture of the people in the area, the history of the area, and recommendations for making our trip even more fantastic. Two examples of how this company went the extra mile are: 1) they arranged for two members of our group to go shopping at a location that completely met our needs while they took the other two members of our group to enjoy an elephant experience — this was all done as an add-on to our Sunset Safari adventure; and 2) our ranger, Bhekifa, went way out of his way to make sure we would see a rhino in Kruger Park so that we could complete our sittings of the Big 5 before leaving the Park! He absolutely came through for us! In sum, this is an amazing company that will do everything possible to make your trip a once in a lifetime experience - they did so for us and we are forever grateful!

It was my family and I first time at Kruger National park and if we could give more than 5 🌟 we would because our guides Calisto and Solomon were AMAZING!!! They were fun to be around, knowledgeable about Kruger, the history on top of all the questions we had, and went above and beyond to make sure we saw all the animals we were looking forward to seeing! I 100000000% recommend booking with them for your next Kruger trip 😎 We definitely going back!!!

Amazing day with Dave! He gave us a lot information about all sights we visited, he was full of energy and we loved this day. When we told him that on coming Monday my 6year old would celebrate her birthday he sang her a birthday song, bought her a gift from a local market, even had the ladies in the restaurant sing her the birthday song, in a special African way (!), and make a pancake for her, that was a great surprise for all of us! All the views were amazing and all information and jokes coming from Dave made this day unforgettable!

    Stan is the man.

The guided tour is very informative and Stan brought the knowledge, humor and energy. Stan answered all our questions and gave insight to the sights one couldn't get by simply visiting the locations on your own. This tour will be especially useful for children!

He also took us to a local restaurant where we tried Ostritch!

I Highly recommend taking this tour with Stan!

The driver was an excellent tour guide, and kept it professional.
The tour agent was kind, prompt to answer our questions and assisted us when we were stuck in Nelspruit. The company ffered us a ride back to our hotel.

It was such a great day. We had Roy as our guide. He took time to tell us about the animals as we were taking pictures. He always asked if we were ready to leave before leaving a spot. While they can't guarantee seeing anything, he was able to guide us to see the big 5 plus giraffes, hippos, zebras, kudus, crocodiles, and lots of animals from the antelope family. It was such an amazing day! Well worth the money. I would book with them again. Thanks Roy!

Absolutely fantastic experience with Viva Safaris from start to finish! Accommodation for one night at Tremisana Lodge was a cosy little house with comfy bed and great shower. Two nights at Marc’s Treehouse Camp in a tent was amazing - large spacious tent with proper beds, electricity and a fan, with showers and toilet right next door - clean, nice, hot water. Accommodation exceeded expectations and I’ve done other budget safaris in Africa! All staff were friendly and helpful a the guided walks were both great and it was so good to be out of the vehicle for a while. Food was plentiful, simple, home style and great - catered for vegetarians. Appreciated coffee at 5am before the walks and home baked cakes and muffins at different times during the safari! The vehicle was fabulous - open sides and front door cool and lovely breeze with great view for everyone (max 9).
Animal wise - our day in Kruger was amazing! Saw lots of animals even though it was raining part of the day. We didn’t see elephants or lions or rhinos outside of Kruger but were unlucky - we saw hippos, buffalo, a hyena, giraffe.
This safari was exceptionally good value and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Sleeping in a tent is a must! The sounds of the insects and animals was something I’ll never forget!
