- morairaUK874 contributionsHoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is the place to go if you want to see a functions conservation/rehabilitation project
Unlike another "rehabilitation" project we visited some days later, Hoedspruit does protect and release animals. The place is well run and profession. This is not a zoo, it is reals animals being cared for
If you want to see Cheetahs and how they are rehabilitated for return to the wild then do visit this siteWritten 4 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Caroline O1 contributionVolunteering at Cheetah Experience is one of the most incredible and rewarding experiences I’ve ever done. I have been there 3 times now and it definitely won’t be my last time returning there.
The staff is truly amazing! They are very professional, commited and the animals are always a first priority and come first. You can really see the people’s passion and dedication to give all the animals the best life possible. The tours that they offer are very educational and give people from all around the world an insight into animal conservation. The animals enclosures are big with a natural environment and are cleaned on a daily basis.
As a volunteer I got to meet other people from different countries and even build new friendships. During this time I learned so much about cheetahs and all other animals at Cheetah Experience.
I have never seen a better place where they treat animals with this much respect, take care of their health and well-being.
This is definitely a „must“ if you are visiting South Africa or want to contribute as a volunteer to a good cause.Written 5 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. No private vehicles allowed. Each lodge allowed one vehicle. All safari vehicles are tracked by a central manager who controls the number of vehicles at any one site. Max allowed at any one time is 4 vehicles. Speed also monitored. Max 35kph. Ensures a very private atmosphere where the welfare of the animals comes first. Malaria free area. Wide choice of accommodations. We saw 4 of the Big 5....just missed the leopard, but we saw cheetahs. Large population of rhinos many with young ones.
Highly recommended.Written 6 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chaile SimwanzaLusaka, Zambia12 contributionsIt was the drive from Polokwane to the waterfalls that made the experience extra, the road is smooth and awesome and the views are breathtaking. The waterfalls is worth the fuss and the anticipation. The general surroundings are clean and good for a picnic or just a getaway.
Careful the rocks are slippery, otherwise, it's worth the R45 entry fee.Written 21 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We stayed in Tlopi Tented Camp which was fabulous. This is camping at it's best. You have a large tent with bathroom and toilet, and a separate private kitchen. All of this is on a platform overlooking a dam.
We didn't see a lot of game at the dam, but I believe from time to time it can be quite productive.
The road up to the lookout is tar, but very narrow in places, where passing an oncoming vehicle can be challenging.
Unfortunately, most of the park is inaccessible, and we got the feeling that the majority of the game are probably in the areas we can't go.
There isn't a lot of road to game drive on. and the scrub in most of the accessible area is too dense to see much.
Read up as much information as you can find before you go, as there is some unusual things about the park.
Probably won't return, simply because we have done it once, and we would prefer the game of Kruger.Written 27 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unsure of what to expect as we walked in, we were welcomed immediately and given a quick run down. Overall, a great experience - beers, burgers and everything in between!Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jaxw1962Pietermaritzburg, South Africa83 contributionsWe spent a tranquil week surrounded by wildlife. We did not see any of the Big 5, but nonetheless we were happy with what we saw. Ingwe Camp is well run, with very friendly, helpful staff.
I personally wouldn’t take children under 8 to Ingwe. The units are in the bush with no flat areas for kids to play. Warthogs are in abundance so I wouldn’t allow kids to venture beyond the unit. There are, however, 2 swimming pools (one heated) and a large play area behind reception.
The loft units have a very steep incline access path so we requested a porter to carry our bags. Also note that the bathroom is on the ground floor and the bedroom in the loft. Trips to the toilet at night could be hazardous!
All in all we had a great time. Frans took us on an informative game drive where we saw giraffe, zebra and nyala.Written 28 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Dirt road and animals, so you know...
Fabulous farm produce and home baked cookies and rusks!

Staff and other volunteers were so kind, patient, helpful and welcoming. Getting to work with the rescued monkeys was a dream come true and I can’t wait to return. While most volunteers are young people, I was a good bit older but made to feel most welcome by all.
Plenty of opportunities to experience the wider area. We did a two day trip to Kruger National Park at the end of our stay. Recommend staying for as long as possible as two weeks, while totally doable and so enjoyable, just wasn’t long enough for me!Written 29 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
