- Thecatsmum4Kettering, UK2 617 contributionsWe walked from Ushaka Marine Park along the promenade to South Beach which is very nice and easy for anyone in a wheelchair. The views of the beach were nice.
However, we felt very uncomfortable at the number of locals in large groups sitting on the grass opposite the beach, watching us. In fairness we were not approached by them but the sheer numbers and police presence made us very wary and we did not walk the whole of the mile. In addition we didn't go on the beach until we got back to Ushaka where we felt safer.Written 1 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The restaurant was mediocre at best with poor service and okay food which most of which were "out" on the menu offered.Written 23 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The price was very reasonable for youth and pensioners alike.
We followed up with a Milkshake and scone at The Blue Zoo restaurant which was just as enjoyable. Service was good and reasonably priced.Written 17 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The markets are small and crowded, most of them seem to have the same things. The incense that was burning mixed with the spices was hard on me personally and made me light headed. We spent about 20 mins in and saw what we wanted. I’m sure there is more, doesn’t seem like the best part of town, but I didn’t feel unsafe either.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The place is the cleanest Nature Conservancy I've visited in the last few weeks in Durban, safe clean and spacious.
The very bottom forest section of the red walk was a bit noisy, but the forest wraith stream was beautiful.
We went for birding, saw a few new ones near the pond, but also got red Duiker, bush buck, and impala, not to mention The Zebra literally standing at the gate on arrival.
Got a day to chill, pack a picnic and head on out ..... well worth the visit. - AndystorrSurbiton, UK90 contributionsPopped along whilst on holiday in the area as this looked to be an interesting thing to do.
It definitely lived up to expectations. The displays are interesting and informative and I learnt a great deal about sharks that I didn’t previously know … inc the fact that shark nets don’t actually prevent the sharks swimming around, under or over them !!!
I narrowly missed the morning “show” but hung around in the hope that the 2pm show would go ahead (they need a minimum number of attendees of around 15 to make it worthwhile).
Thankfully it did go ahead & this was also fascinating as we were able to watch an informative video & witness the dissection of a small hammerhead shark that had become entangled in the nets & died recently.
If you have a couple of hours to kill, or are interested in sharks, definitely pop along to this.Written 17 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Had a private guided tour. Cost was R100pp, well worth it.
Loved the 'puppet dolls' in cultural outfits
Wish we'd stayed a bit longer and been able to wonder around by ourselves after the tour, and I'd taken more photo's.
Our guide was bubbly and knowledgeable.Written 30 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
