We weren't quite sure whether visits could be accommodated but having been directed by one of the shop owners we stepped into this oasis in the middle of a super busy area of town.

We had a wonderful guide who showed us through the mosque and explained the way of worship in a practical and interesting way.

Definitely a highlight on our trip to Durban.

Loved revisiting the Cathedral. Lots of history for my family so it was a wonderful nostalgic walk down memory lane. We also popped into the Archibishop Hurley Centre - so double whammy bonus

The church is next to Musgrave Centre Mall, its architectural building stand out from the rest of the buildings around the area, the inside is characterized by beautifully crafted stained glass windows, pictures of the station of the cross are beautiful and really tell a story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

On the 1st of September I went to this church at 07h30 for Sunday mass and it was real moving and emotional experience ! Since I am a regular traveller to Southafrica from Germany I was utmost impressed of the praying and singing of all races in the small church. The Preaching was also very vivid and alive with the parish father walking freely in front and talking sense not so sterile as I often experience in Germany. For anybody with at least some connection to the church an opportunitiy not to be missed !!

The white gowns called umu Nazareth is a symbol of true worshipers of Shembe Nazareth Baptist Church which is an African initiated church blending Christianity and indigenous Zulu tradition. The Shembe village called Ebuhleni remains one of the most sacred sites and pilgrimage sites for the Shembe congregation.
