The Union Buildings is always impressive to see. Sadly ordinary visitors are not allowed anymore in the buildings. The gardens are looking well , but dry for this time in winter.Various monuments are there to be seen. Please note gardens are closed on weekends.

The whole area of Hazelwood is great - someone said "like Cape town in Pretoria". That's not being fair - Hazelwood is very much a vibrant part of Pretoria. Great restaurants, coffee shops and places to hang out!
You won't find an area like this in Johannesburg.

Prepare to be impressed by the huge statue of Nelson Mandela standing with open arms, Just below the Union Buildings in the stunning gardens.

Gets quite busy and there are the unusal "official photogrpahers" trying to sell their wares. But wait a while and the crowds clear so you have time to run up and get a snap at the feet of the great man.

We loved the atmosphere of this beautiful market. Brimming with an abundance of fresh flowers, plants, veggies, raw honey, meats, treats, fish, meats, pasteries and the air filled with the aroma of coffee, melkkos, waffles, pancakes, pap and kaiings. Seeing happy faces and hearing chatter and laughter everywhere. What a lovely morning we had!

Recently went there for a photo shoot. It is rain season and the park looked exquisite. It was well groomed, clean and nicely situated away from the city rush. Enjoyed a picnic after and will recommend it for a quite time and reading.

What an amazing experience!! We spent four hours here and shared wonderful family time.Words cannot describe this beautiful rose farm! It was busy but I assume it is because the roses are in full bloom now and the rose show is also on.
We enjoyed the tractor ride, Rose Kitchen and the shop. Rose produce very tasty. The rose exhibition in the venue is very well done!
My highlight was the beautiful roses plants and bouquets everywhere and Ludwig’s and Helmar’s interaction with all the guests. A wonderful, personal experience!
A must-do for all garden lovers!!

It´s quite a long drive to get from Pretoria to Irene Market but well forth the journey and getting out of town for fresh air. The sphere is perhaps a bit more "countryside" than the ones in city, but the choices are more or less the same.

Well maintained, and in good condition, lots of different birds, Bird food can be purchased at the restaurant, and the views over the small lake, while having a snack at the restaurant is beautiful.

I love this square and enjoy shopping and relaxing here. However, sometimes the toilets are not regularly cleansed. They are smelly and looks like they are not taken care of. Specifically the ones next to clicks behind Kauai.

The mall has a variety of shops and restaurants and also a cinema and ice rink for children.Shopping is easy with ample parking. Parking is available at 4 entrances to the mall so very little if at all, congestion at the exit gates. Take note that building is currently taking place on the south east side of the mall.

The art was beautiful and inspiring, BUT the food was outstanding. The attention to detail on the plates did not go unnoticed. The spinach pie was delicious and the apple danish ended the meal on the right note. I highly recommend this gem.

Set in a spacious well-kept public park. Lovely for enjoying Pretoria's mostly good weather. Pity Huckleberry's food standard has dropped. But good for tea, cappuccino or soft drink.

Since the begging of COVID-19 and lockdowns I have stayed away from the place and only visited it once the lockdown was eased sometime last year. At the time the park looked like a mini jungle and desseted.
So this year wheyi visited, it looked better than the last time. Lawn cut, new flowers planted and trees also trimmed. The restaurant, also looks fresher, with. slight changes there and there. The only sad thing is that, the tree that was like a trademark crossing over the stream has been totally removed, it used to be liked by kids using it to cross over the stream and couples posing for pictures next to it or on top of it, especially the ladies ( see screenshot).
As usual there were a number of gruops celebrating birthday parties. At least, there was no littering of the stream this time, maybe is the effectiveness of the pictures we were posting in the past,
The visitors were of mixed races and ages, and as usual dog lovers were also present taking a walk with their dogs.
All in all I enjoyed my time under the sunny weather and clean environment and hope it will remain like that.

In large European cities, the market square and the cathedral (church) were separated. Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's. But Pretoria was a small town, so the square was one and was called Church Square, because three churches stood on it consecutively from 1857 to 1905, the last of which was the Verenigde Kerk demolished in 1905. The church was not restored, perhaps because the victorious British didn`t want to create a center of ideological consolidation of the defeated but not surrendered Boers. So it turned out to be a Church square without a church. The square is surrounded by several historically and architecturally significant buildings, the Old Capitol Theater, the Tudor Chambers, the Ou Raadsaal (Old Council Chamber) and the Post Office. However, the most notable is the Palace of Justice, where Mandela and other ANC revolutionaries were tried and sentenced during the historic Rivonia trial. The dominant feature of the square is the statue of President Kruger in a tall hat and with a cane established in the early years of apartheid in 1954. During my visit, the pedestal with Kruger was surrounded by a fence. Probably in order to fight the coronavirus.... I found myself in this square twice in the early morning after arriving in Pretoria and in the middle of the next day. The public in the early morning is not disposed to linger here. Many beggars. Everything is fine during the day. The usual audience for the central square of the city.
