Had an amazing family day out at acrobranch Melrose. Bongani Tshabalala took us through the blue course. His skills, expertise and guidance was outstanding. I commend him for his patience, motivation and encouragement. Definitely encouraged me to push the boundaries out of my comfort zone.

    Bongani is amazing!

We did the Queer tour of Hillbrow and it was amazing! So inspiring and thoughtprovoking at the same time. The guides were really good and shared great information in a very good way. It was a good balance between actually seeing and feeling Hillbrow and getting some good stories about a part of Joburg history that is not so often spoken about.

Very knowledgeable about the animals and area! Ingrid organized a fantastic weekend trip in Pilanesburg for us. She arranged rooms, meals, and excursions, all we had to do was show up. We had up close experiences with elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos and saw a male lion and lots of birds. She had comfortable accommodations with food and drink so we could spend all day in the bush. We had a fantastic trip, Ingrid made it easy and most enjoyable.

We had a wonderful time at the Pilanesberg park. We arranged the tour just last minute and had with Donald an excellent guide who explained flora and fauna equally well. Due to the season some game is more difficult to spot but this was all balanced out by explaining the other important aspects of the ecosystem.
Overall, all went super smooth from online payment to on time pick up and drop off at our Airbnb.

Such a great experience! Went with a group of friends and did the Closure room and it was so much fun. We never got stuck for too long with the help of the enthusiastic host.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, out of the ordinary activity. Completely worth it. Hopefully we can go back soon and make an attempt at another room!

Darren's input made the difference for a group of 4 enthustiastic hikers that took on Mafadi, Drakensberg during December 2020. Even although the group didn't go with Darren, he made sure our team was well equipped with route plans, conditioning and training plans, etc. Darren's love for the mountains is contagious and he was really a great sport sharing from his experiences and in entertaining all our questions and sharing his expert advise. The input Darren gave us on meal plans, gear plans, travel plans was highly appreciated. The trip would not have been a success without Darren. Unfortunately, I had to pull out of the trip on the morning we were set to head to the berg, but hearing first hand from the experience of my friends, if you are going to the berg , tackling any sizeable peak or range you don't want to tackle it without Darren, or at least first calling him!

We worked with Matty to plan a 3-week tour of South Africa with 1 week in Cape town and 2 weeks on safari. Matty immediately stood out to me as the person I wanted to work with on the tour by having a very fast response rate and setting up a video conference with me to discuss our wish list and budget requirements. Once our meeting was finished he quickly had a proposal in our hands that blew our minds! I thought there was no way someone would be able to offer a high-quality tour and stay within our budget, but he found a way.

In Capetown, he arranged a beautiful apartment in a very safe and scenic area close to the pier. As for the activities, we really enjoyed the cape fur seal snorkeling and shark dive. Matty chose companies that truly care about the country, the wildlife, and your safety. (Cape fur seal snorkeling is a must! easily our favorite experience in Capetown!) I should mention that Matty admitted that Capetown is not his specialty, but he represented it very well. We will return!

We then flew to Johannesburg and commenced a 2-week safari tour. Matty had arranged 5 camps of changing amenities, each with its own topography and animal specialty. We started at Mosetlha Bush Camp in Madikwe, and what a way to start! (FYI. opt for the bush flight in and out if you can afford it) This is truly a special bush camp. The manager (her name escapes me right now) made us feel like family as soon as we arrived. She showed us to our bush hut and took us through the amazing procedure they have for hot water showers, the well-stocked and priced honesty bar, and the daily itinerary. Guests should know that there is no power or wifi at this camp, don't show up thinking you're going to the Shangrila to be pampered, this is a bush camp after all. The food was home-cooked with locally sourced ingredients, and the staff was all very friendly. As for animals, I think we lucked out! We had almost everything covered in 2 days! But I don't think this was normal.

The second Lodge was a high-end safari lodge named Lukimbi. Everything was amazing here, the food was prepared by an award-winning chef, the wine cellar was fully stocked with local wines, and the game drives and bush walks were conducted by true professionals who were excited to answer any questions we had. I truly cannot say enough good things about this lodge.

Umkumbe Safari Lodge was next. This place was another great spot, just not quite as high-end as Lukimbi, but great nonetheless. What stood out about Umkumbe was the relaxed atmosphere, amazing views from the bar/pool area, craft beer selection from the honesty bar, and the excellent chances to see leopards. right from check-in, we were greeted by 4 lions and 1 leopard on the far bank of the river, and a local hippo that would often make an appearance.

Back to the bush! Umlani Bush Camp is a small family-owned (like most places we stayed) camp that has a very close-to-nature feel. from the hyena and lions that sing you to sleep, to the boma fire that we sat around exchanging stories nightly, this place made you feel like you were a part of something special. The booze was inclusive, the food was great, and the staff was all friendly. I would recommend asking them to take you out and leave you at the tree house for a couple of hours or for the evening, it was an experience not to be missed. The animals act completely different when you are in the tree house because they don't realize you are there, it's so exciting waiting to see what will pop out next! The staff even packed us a cooler of beer and snacks for our tree house visit.

Arathusa Safari Lodge. Matty ended us off with a bang! another higher-end lodge with full amenities and a beautiful spa. The animal sightings were plentiful, and the food and drink top notch. After 2 weeks of twice-a-day game drives our backs deserved the spa treatment they received from the magical hands of the ladies at Arathusa, pure bliss.

To conclude, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the unparalleled support we received from Matty. The nonstop emails, calls, video chats, transfers, and local information we received were second to none (and we've been on lots of safaris, in many countries). He was always available and even took time from his busy schedule to drive us between the lodges. He is a true professional, I dare say that if you put him at the front of a land cruiser he could provide you with as much quality info as any of the lodge-supplied rangers. He's a real gem.

    We will be back!

The ghost tours are an absolute must for locals and tourists. A truly unique way to experience the city.

I’ve been a captivated occasional attendee of the ghost tours in various cities over the last twenty years! Mark’s brilliant theatrical flair for story-telling keeps me coming back for more.

The weather was not very good, we had a lot of rain and mist. By the time we set up camp on top of the mountain, we were soaking wet and very cold. But our guide, Tez, puts our needs always in front of his own and tried to make us comfortable as soon as possible. He was a great guide, we had some good laughs and it was overall an amazing experience! The clouds opened up a bit and we could enjoy some of the amazing scenary this part of the drakensberg has to offer. I would highly recommend this to everyone who loves a good adventure!

    Regards, Anna & Kristof

It's a great adrenaline rush and you can purchase videos to capture the moment, which is great BUT my video didn't actually do that....

I did the SCAD freefall and bungee jump combo, which meant I had to pay for the videos separately, vs having the video included for the SCAD, (which in the end isn't that much a saving to do the two together).

I went with a friend, and his video showed his fall from two camera angles (the fall from the top and one from the bottom), while mine only showed from the bottom, and honestly, it could've been stock footage, I can't even tell it's me. Multiple attempts to see if they to have the footage went unanswered and it's really soured my experience. I would've preferred something to say, sorry we don't have the footage anymore vs being ignored completely.

If you do go and purchase the video, I'd wait until it's actually sent to you (which took up to 30 mins) to see that it's actually you. My bungee video, which is taken from a go pro attached to the wrist is really cool.
