Excellent guided tour with very friendly and knowledgeable guide (Temba). An opportunity to experience Soweto and learn about the people who live there. Good quality bikes, but a few up hill sections to make it over.

Wonderful, interesting and diverse walking tour through Soweto. We could really dive into the neighbourhoods, got different impressions and s lot of first-hand knowledge. Even took the taxi, went for a local beer, and to a restaurant. Already thinking on when to go back. Thank you very much!

From the moment we made contact with Thiya tours and projects we were made to feel welcome. The guides were amazing and part of the Soweto community. The had the most beautiful relationships with the kids and community members we passed on our tour. The visit to the Hector Peterson Memorial was both confronting and inspiring and the passion the guides showed was incredible. Our lunch was one of the best meals we’ve had in Africa. I would highly recommend taking a tour with Thiya tours & projects.

A very reliable and cool tour guide. It is a good choice to tour the city of Johannesburg by bicycle. Since I was the only one in the cycling group, I asked him to take me to the place where the street photography was taken. Got a lot of satisfying photos. Without him, I wouldn’t even dare to take out my camera. He can solve all the troubles caused when taking pictures. I encountered some small problems during the itinerary. Since I purchased a 5-hour trip for one day, the message from the tour guide company was a half day tour , he was a nice person and took me ride for 4 hours (not 5 hours). Travelers who like photography can participate.

Such a cool way to explore the city! The views were spectacular and our guide was very well informed. My favourite part was exploring the hidden gems of the city.

It was our first day on holiday and we wanted to go straight to Soweto. The tour was hard as it was a lot of ups and downs on old bicycles and rough streets and paths, but it was amazing! What a great way to experience the history of this country and meet the people. People were yelling hello to us as we went by on the bikes and encouraging us as we were going back up the hills. It was an experience we will never forget! Well worth the money and time!

My mom and I had a great time with our guide, Samantha! She was so fun and knowledgeable about the animals, the landscape, and the country of South Africa. We were able to get very close to the giraffes and wildebeests and still felt safe. Big thanks to Samantha and Shane for a great morning in a beautiful place!

My wife and I booked the tour as we wanted to learn more about areas that are not normally considered to be “tourist destinations”. We were not disappointed. We got a greater understanding of the history and incredible street art of Maboneng while also discovering cool businesses and enterprises. Further away we learned more about the history and modern life in Troyeville and Jeppestown, while Victoria Yards was totally unexpected. Highly recommended if you are interested in doing “something different” in Johannesburg, albeit I must say the bicycles were not the best; the brakes on mine were barely functional. The longer-term success of the tour might be improved by cycles that are more obviously well maintained (perhaps we were unlucky with our bikes, and no harm was done) but no doubt at all about the energy, engagement and knowledge provided on the tour. Our excellent guide (I think his name was Sam, and it’s on me that I’m not certain more than a month later) certainly knew his stuff — and most importantly knew people out on the streets to bring the tour further to life. Really enjoyed our Sunday afternoon.
