- Natalie T14 contributionsWe landed in J’Burg to be met by Shylock our driver, waiting with a sign for us. Shylock immediately took our bags and collected the vehicle to take us 4 1/2 hours to Madikwe.
Shylock was amazing, helping provide information about J’Burg and South Africa, as well as providing us with lots of information about the animals and parks around the safari we were attending. Upon entering the park he also stopped to let us take various photos and provided us with lots of information, acting as a guide.
Shylock also collected us from Madikwe to return us to J’Burg.
We can’t comment Shylock enough for starting our experience on the right foot and ending it the same. Thank you Shylock.Written 13 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 34769peteNorthampton, UK199 contributionsWe've used Booysie on previous trips and it was great to reconnect with him again.
Due to a last minute health issue for our friends, who couldn't travel with us, he had to change the itinerary on the day as we'd done the usual tour with him previously and he didn't disappoint.
He's very knowledgeable, friendly and strives to ensure that all his guests have a good time and has good well maintained vehicles.
We thoroughly recommend him and we will see you next time!Written 3 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sienna P2 contributionsI did a Pilanesberg National Park Full Day Tour through Biggestleaf Travel, with Thabi providing transportation to/from the park and I had a wonderful experience. Thabi was extremely generous, sharing with me his experience growing up in a village near the park and answering all my questions. He went out of his way to make my trip an excellent experience. I would definitely recommend Thabi and Biggestleaf for your SA transportation & tours.Written 20 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lafcadio8 contributionsMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending the day with Howard, who is by far the best and most knowledgeable guide we have ever had on any trip, anywhere in the world (and there have been some great ones). Polymathic, passionate, facts-based and a lot of fun, Howard fielded my scattershot questions on topics like the modern social, economic and political context underpinning what we were seeing, while also managing to open our eyes to the incredible paleoarchaeology and geology of the region. Every piece of information Howard shared opened a new door to so many questions, which he fielded with patience and detail. We need a year more with Howard.Written 29 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands6Â 227 contributionsRea Vaya is one of Joburg's city bus operators with a network covering most important parts of the city. You can only use their buses if you have purchased a plastic card (price 35 Rand). You can load money on the card. A short distance with a Rea Vaya bus will cost 9 Rand.
Keep in mind that Rea Vaya buses are not frequent on Saturdays and Sundays. Their card can not be used for other means of public transport like Metrobus or Gautrain.
Generally safe if you are in a station or on a bus. However, walking to and from a bus stop even in the center of town is often problematic. Especially if you are a foreigner, you will be targeted by gangs (also during the day).
Particularly drivers may be rather indifferent and not very friendly. E.g. I asked a driver to warn me to get off in Melville. He didn't. On the way out of the bus he said "If you don't know where to get off, you should not get on this bus."
If travelling to and from Parkstation in CBD use the Rea Vaya bus station Parkstation West. From there it is relatively safe to reach the main hall of the Railway station and Bus terminals.Written 10 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
