What travellers are saying
- EvJohannesburg, South Africa1 contributionI visited The Playground on a beautiful sunny day, as you walk in you can feel the energy from inside the venue humming out. The playground truly is a feast for the eyes, mouth and soul with amazing murals, great food and a vibey bar area.Written 2 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- KatielouAustraliaHobart, Australia1Â 512 contributionsThis is the site where the Freedom Charter was signed so whilst the square is a bit rundown it is an important historical place with great significance for the townships.Written 14 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Charlene C8 contributionsIt was a nice place to visit, but you really had to look to find unique things or really good deals. Don't be afraid to barter!Written 14 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- PierrejoburgambassadorRandburg, South Africa190 contributionsThis mall is trying to cater for the entire South African demographic. They have succeeded in this however, it turns out to be the same as just about any other mall making for a rather mediocre experience. Not sure if I would travel all the way there again because sadly it's bland and nothing outstanding. If they really want the likes of me to return it needs a one of a kind restaurant or shop.Written 5 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Nadia SWaterloo, Canada4 contributionsFab market but not the cheapest, there are definitely better prices other places in Joburg but overall still a great vibe and lots of cool stuffWritten 20 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jackson MutisyaLangata, Kenya228 contributionsSmooth and elegant.
Comfortable design and superb shopping experience, even for indow shoppers!
Plenty of variety, suts all tastes/preferences, and more.Written 3 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TrudiCenturion, South Africa440 contributionsWe found ourselves wondering out of our comfort zone and ended up at 44 Stanley. Not sure of the neighbourhood, my daughter and I were a bit sceptical when we first arrived. But we were pleasantly reassured about safety by the secure parking and felt safe at all times inside the establishment.
44 on Stanley is very much an upmarket market, with various local designer stores and lovely, but extremely busy restaurants. It is advised if you know before hand where you want to eat book a table in advance before you browse. The setting of most of the restaurants is outdoor, so I am not sure what it would be on a rainy day.
It is not a very large market area and the shops are speciality local designer stores.
We had fun just browsing and it was most definitely worth the wait for a table.Written 14 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - StevieCCDLeigh-on Sea, UK98 contributionsThe Box Shop is an outlet for new entrepreneurs and designers. It also has a neat cafe with a good view out over Soweto.
If you like new and innovative designs - cloths, sun glasses - all sorts - you will like Box Shop.Written 29 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - MylesJounieh, Lebanon68 contributionsEnough of everything -- shops, restaurants, cinemas, banks. This is a convenient and manageable center. It is well structured and easy to navigate. I found the security good, and it certainly is a place that satisfies all choices.Written 6 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- smudgemommyShannon, Ireland230 contributionsWhat an amazing way to spend a few hours in a Sunday. Lots of stalls to browse. Particularly loved "I was shot in Joburg" an initiative to help former street children. Amazing things to buy and for such a good cause. Nice rooftop bar to sit and have a drink in the sunshine. We had a drink at Canteen under the trees and enjoyed people watching. Will definitely visit again.Written 3 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sana MMafikeng, South Africa39 contributionsSpoil yourself with a lovely aroma of Indian spices and food at a very reasonable price. If you are looking for replicas of bags, footwear or clothes you will find a wide variety of choices to choose from.Written 5 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sharon RTucson, Arizona186 contributionsThe area has a lovely play area for children. Multiple places to eat. Interesting shops with South African stuff. The area around 27 boxes is also very interesting and seems it would fun and exciting in the evening and night. Much better than a mall.Written 3 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LomaBlantyre, Malawi78 contributionsAs we live in Malawi and mainly visit malls for essential shopping, we enjoy visiting Mall of the South. It has ample parking, all necessary shops and lovely restaurants.Written 2 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DDR1234Johannesburg, South Africa646 contributionsGet the feel of a factory, they have a restaurant downstairs and a courtyard outside as well as the beautiful space at the top with views of Johannesburg. Good food, nice coffee.Written 12 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- C1tten5Pinelands, South Africa387 contributionsA small but well layer out gallery with good lighting & divided spaces. The exhibit was good & the write up interesting.
The staff were friendly & very helpful in directing us to other contemporary galleries.Written 29 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
