This is a beautiful museum, bringing the heartbreak of Apartheid to life. We visited following our Safari adventure, and I am so glad that we did. Don't miss it.

Super clean, easy to access and fast! Very good value for money and making the city accessible! Timetables are clear, travel times regular and staff were helpful!

If doing the Soweto tour, you should pass were, althought this is an historic landmark there is not a lot to see,

It's a must go on a visit to Johannesburg / Soweto, the story is sad but it remind us of the struggle to get us here and now.

The memorial is very compelling. It was helpful to have a guide who was able to explain the meaning of the running water. A humbling place.

I visited The Playground on a beautiful sunny day, as you walk in you can feel the energy from inside the venue humming out. The playground truly is a feast for the eyes, mouth and soul with amazing murals, great food and a vibey bar area.

We only had time for a short visit but it left quite an impression. I loved visiting the still operating courthouse and the former prison, including the cell where Mendela stayed. Much to see here.

Walk from Tutu's house to Mandela's house and experience this historical street. There's a lot of poverty still in Soweto, and it's sad that for many, not much has changed since democracy has come :(

We loved the experience not just the entertainment but the street art. We loved Bertrand Cafe and scheduled a return visit!

Had a 30 min stop here on an organised tour. The guide, who had lived through the creation of Soweto, the time of the riots etc was interesting and entertaining and interacted with members of the group in a unique way! recommended if you are in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

A great museum with a surprising amount to see - cannons, planes, submarines - all sorts of things. We spent 2 hours there, and could have spent longer (bypassed some of the photos, and smaller exhibits) but left because we were doing the zoo (next door) in the same afternoon. Would well recommend.

I would describe it as a beer adventure with yummy food.

It’s not a 5 star experience it is so much better. This is as local as you can get with knowledgeable staff who are cheerful and happy to help you make decisions if your not sure.

We did the beer tasting which I recommend before buying a full glass of something. Try something new.

I’d also suggest calling before you go to check if there are any events they where preparing for an all nighter party when we went so we had some DJ music to go with our experience. I loved it.

    Secure car parking also available.
A bit of a drive but worth the experience.
Outdoor seating only, so check the weather.

This is the site where the Freedom Charter was signed so whilst the square is a bit rundown it is an important historical place with great significance for the townships.

We caught an Uber to the Military Museum next door, and after doing that, came to the zoo, to make a complete day out. Plenty to see, and the animals have nice big enclosures, and in a lot of cases moats/walls surrounding, so you're not looking through wire fences. Plenty of grassy space to sit / picnic too. At the end, we struggled to get an Uber back as they'd gone on strike, and the zoo was about to close, and we didn't know the phone numbers for any local taxi firms, but the staff at the golf buggy hire station were incredibly helpful, arranging a car for us, and making sure the driver knew where to take us and that we knew what the fare would be. They were so wonderful, at a time when we were starting to get a bit desperate, really appreciated them.
