- FernandaSao Paulo, SP5 contributionsAnother wonder of the world! So much to explore and we were blown away by the natural beauty of this place. You can walk along the coast or up the river to the suspension bridge. Theres a beautiful beach to swim if you want. Looking up the river from the bridge is a special sight. Absolutely have to visit this park if you are passing. What a lovely experience.Written 9 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sharon vCape Town Central, South Africa59 contributionsThis hike is absolutely spectacular, vistas around every corner and up every hill. Our guide Ashley was amazing, shared so much area knowledge, and generally was a pleasure to be around. He kept an eye on us, as my husband is 77, and I am 64, so we did not find the trail easy, however it felt like a major achievement at the end, and the whole experience was so worth it. The accommodation was top drawer, spa bath and jacuzzi for the sore muscles were a joy to behold. We enjoyed our stay in each one of the properties, food was great, and friendly people. I think its important to mention that you will enjoy this hike more if you have a reasonable level of fitness, however there is no rush so you can do it slowly but there is some rock scrambling which could be a challenge for some, but Ashley guided us expertly, so it was all good. I would also recommend trail shoes or hiking boots not trainers. If you are on the trail and it rains, the correct shoes could save twisting your ankle or hurting your knees. Walking stick/s are highly recommended. I loved every second of this hike, and will be back again.Written 7 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Muhammad OJohannesburg, South Africa44 contributionsGreat trail with awesome views.
Need to be fit and no issues with knees and ankles. Ensure you have hiking poles and good boots.
Saw whales 4 out off 5 days.
Huts are well situated and sit on the beach.
Used Burton (+27738006811) for slackpacking in respect of bags and food. Meat placed in 4 cooler bags and he brought a bag every day. Groceries placed in 1 big bag and he brought every day. Makes the whole experience better so you can ensure a braai and breakfast with friends and family.
Something to look forward to after the hike.Written 23 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BigGCape Town Central, South Africa9 contributionsA fabulous area to hike in where the amazing flora will delight your senses. It is not a walk in the park so be prepared. The porterage is recommended as some hills are brutal and in full sun sapping your strength. Mosquitoes and trees lying on the paths put extra strain on your good mood so be warned. Extra water is needed to cool you down as there can be long stretches without water. Do not rely on the distance markers as they are frustratingly wrong. It is a damn long walk and just. Know that it is a 6-7 hour trudge each day with many ups and downs. Day 3 to the Heuningbos hut is the most strenuous. Day 4 is the longest but very pleasant. Use tea lights to start your fire..works like a dream and so pleasant sitting next to a fire after a hard days hike. The pools at Bloukrans hut are. With walking to after your hike. It is a short down walk and worth the effort. Conserve the tank water for cooking. TheWritten 23 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FernandaSao Paulo, SP5 contributionsOne of kind experience from beginning to end! The staff were welcoming and so friendly to us. Start with a short safety briefing and then kit up before you drive through the beautiful little town and out to the drop off point inside the national park. We were a little nervous at first but the guides made us feel relaxed and once we did the first zip line we were at comfortable. You are up in the top of the trees looking down to the forest floor and its really a one of kind experience being up there. We saw some beautiful birds and were in awe of the indigenous yellowood trees that surround you everywhere. Theres a really nice blend of fast and not so fast ziplines. You walk back out of the forest were they pick you up but the walk is easy and not long. We also got some lovely videos and pix of us zip lining at the end. What a fun experience. It was great and we will probably stop and do it again on our way back.Written 9 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Martin5 contributionsDavid & Valerie Lane Trail was a fantastic experience.
It brings you down a lovely forest path until you reach the ocean. The viewpoints are spectacular.
My guide Freddie was amazing and very knowledgeable about plant, wildlife and the park. It was an absolute pleasure hiking with him. We even got to see four whales jumping and playing in the water right from the trail. The trail itself is rather short and aside of a little uphill on the way back no challenge to complete.
10/10 totally recommend it.Written 26 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - True Blue22 contributionsKay our guide was without doubt the most friendly, knowledgable and passionate guide we’ve ever had the fortune of spending time with. We were running a little late and Kay was so accommodating in making sure we still got our 2 hour tour conducted. The level of safety briefing and Segway advice and guidance was exemplary throughout. Plenty of artistic photo stops merged with local history of the area and the environment and wildlife, made this tour a pure pleasure to attend. Well worth a booking! Thanks Kay, you are a true professional…Written 10 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ashley WLondon, UK113 contributionsTrip was actually great! Small group and had rained a few days prior meaning the water was decent! It’s very physical so be prepared.
Slight issue being one group member had a bag and couldn’t handle the physical nature of the red route. Take as little items as possible as it made the staffs time even more difficult.
Only thing which would have made it 5 stars was having a short stop for a sandwich or snack. Got to the end starving. Also having to pay extra for a wetsuit should be included as standard. Having to pay an additional hire charge when you basically couldn’t do the activity without it is abit cheeky
