#1 of 24 Nature & Parks in Juneau
Once we were underway again, heading out of the channel and back to the ocean, we watched as Alaska slipped by, its incomparable beauty, stillness, unspoiled landscape and unique nature.
As we sailed up the fjord with Allen Marine Tours, the sights invoked Yellowstone National Park , but at a far grander scale.

I'd highly recommend the Mendenhall trail as an easy walking challenge through nature that provides a great opportunity to stretch and enjoy the lush landscape of Alaska.
MUST SEE!! Incredibly beautiful glacier, icebergs, and waterfalls all enclosed by a beautiful natural park.

Depending on the season and the amount of time you have to visit there are nature hikes - of varying degree of difficulty that affords opportunity to see wildlife, including bears enjoying salmon.
The Park Rangers are very enthusiastic about the glacier and will answer any questions, they also lead presentations hourly.

Visiting in May, snow melts fueled a large waterfall accessible via a roughly two mile round trip nature trail (finishing in a nice view of the glacier) from the visitor's center, which has fun gifts and education...
Located a short drive from downtown Juneau in the Tongass National Forest; just drive out to the park where the glacier flows toward the lake and hike out on the incredible beauty in your waterproof boots that is...

It was great to get away from the cruise ship crowds and enjoy some nature in Alaska.
Nature at its best.

There are a few nature trails (ranging from .5 miles to several miles) with gorgeous views in every direction!
The Fr. Brown trail starts at the Nature Center at the top of the tramway and ascends about 300' to the Cross overlooking the harbor.

Highly recommend if you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy nature in a serene setting.
We enjoyed the golf cart tour of the gardens and Tongans national park.

Our teachers were more than just that, they are amazing hosts to the ski area/Juneau and nature and really introduce you to the ski area and surroundings in the most lovely way ever.

Amazing to see how nature has in part reclaimed many of these buildings along the trail.
Nice park with lots of artifacts and buildings from the gold mining era.

It was a beautiful sunny day with great nature views including several "aerial bears" on the way out and of Juneau on the return.
We booked tickets for the park online and booked a round trip float plane with Ward Air, all much less expensive overall (for a family of 4) than booking through a tour company.
