A museum giving the full history of Korčula old town from Greeks, Roman, Venetian, Austrian, Hungarian, French and even British influences upto present day. Very interesting if history is your thing, located over 4 floors.
Entrance fee of €6 per person

I don’t like to spend too much time shopping when I’m on vacation - and yet I always want to bring home something special as a reminder of my trip. This shop makes that easy! There’s a lovely collection of art, ceramics, jewelry and more by local artists. I fell in love with a beautiful large ceramic plate that would have been challenging to get home. I “settled” for some stunning handmade earrings instead.

Nice stop, wonderful collection of items packed into house. Owner is always available with a story or to give more detail. Fascinating child walker, wonderful tatted lace, bizarre items in old kitchen, and amazing traditional dress. Good brandy tasting at end

We stumbled across this very interesting museum whilst exploring Korcula's winding streets and very pleased we decided to pop in.

It's a compact but bijou collection of religious icons and artifacts but what makes it special is the incredible church the museum is attached to which can only be described as breathtakingly beautiful if you like religious art. Lovely painted panels adorn the ceiling and there is a fabulous 'pieta' statue under a carved stone canopy.

Please don't pass up this little gem of a place - it truly deserves a look in. Unfortunately photography not permitted, you could have been there for hours!

Bishop's Treasury Museum is housed in the former Bishop's palace; it fronts the main square in old town Korcula (a.k.a. St. Mark's square; Trg Svetog Marka), on the south side of St. Mark's Cathedral. The elegant three story palace was built in the 17th century, handy to the Cathedral next door. Today the palace houses the Bishop’s Treasury Museum (a.k.a. Abbey Treasury of St Mark, or Opatska Riznica Svetog Marka) containing a rich collection of Croatian and Italian Renaissance artists. The most outstanding work is the 1431 polyptych of The Virgin & Child with Saints by Blaž Jurjev of Trogir. The ground floor contains the parish office, library, archives and a kitchen exhibition hall. The second floor contains Treasury exhibits; highlights include: works of art (some by Blaz Jurjev and Tiepolo), icons, coats of arms, old manuscripts with illuminated codex from 12th century, alabaster sculptures from 15th century, reliquaries, and liturgical vestments. The top floor of the palace offers expansive views over the old town and the seacoast beyond. Bishops Treasury Museum is open (May-Nov) from Mon-Sat 9am -7pm. The admission fee of 25 kuna includes a visit to St. Mark's Cathedral next door. Nearby are St. Peter's Church, the Arneri Palace and the Korcula Town Museum in the Gabrieli Palace, all of which provide a historical perspective of Venetian architecture, religion and the lifestyles of medieval Korculan families.

I visited the Marco Polo Interpretation Center (former Marco Polo House) with my children shortly after grand opening on July 29 2023 and found it very interesting. The focus is on the historic fact that great Marco Polo was captured under Korčula city walls in 1298 during the naval battle between Republic of Venice (La Serenissima) and Genoa. It points out the connections of great Marco Polo and Korčula and explains much about his impact to Europe after he returned to Venice from the Far East.

Collection offers a great experience of the island and shows the life and the costumes of the ancestors. What I really loved is the owner! She explains everything with great love and enthusiasm, she shows her amazing herbal garden and knows all great recipes for some curative effects! In the end of the guidance you can buy some home made jams, curative herbs for different purposes and delicious roasted almonds! If you have an hour of time, stop here and visit this house (they live there so visiting time is possible whenever you want).
