Breathtaking landscape, with, early in the morning, views of the distant snowcapped Tian Shan Mountains.
The guide told us that its about 2000 years old, its an amazing site , you can see the houses, temple , streets ruins very clearly, amazingly preserved.

I had the opportunity to play Rawap with an old guy sitting and playing the Uigher stringed instrument at the site.
The sights are amazing and a huge change from the oasis not far away.

The site is enormous and it would be best to visit with a guide.

It was fascinating for the 7 year old to see how someone would dig a canal from the mountains all the way to the village and the little one just enjoyed the tunnel views :)
The site is also very nice, and the small musée very well done.

Very nice architecture and we had a great time taking pictures and enjoying the views from the top.
There was no public transport found to this site from Turpan city center.

There is a Mazar holding the relic of an Islamic saint on the site but it's really only for worshippers and not polite to visit if you don't share the faith.
