It is not, but it is an interesting store selling all kinds of food prodicts primarily from Niigata.
Not only food, but also works of art, such as handmade pottery and natural fabrics are displayed and sold within the Ponshukan.

The tasting involves 4 x 15ml samples of a white oak, lightly peated and standard Hakushu (the 4th being standard where you're taught to make a high ball drink).
You will have a tasting time at the end of tour so if you want to drink, you may want to take bus or other commutation besides driving car/bicycle or anything.

The cooking class at Yoko's house was great fun and it was really nice learning about Japanese food and culture from Yoko and the 2 ladies who joined our class.
Yoko and Shingo were fabulous hosts, the food was simple (and delicious) and it was simply a lovely experience.

After the tour, we're taken to a cafeteria and we can drink three glasses of beer there for free!

My friend loves to drink so we stopped in and for a small price was able to sample from many different Sakes.
For me who don't drink, they do have snacks produced from sake which I had tried and they were pretty good.
