What travellers are saying
- JonAbeJerusalem, Israel26 contributionsThis is a lovely spot smack in the middle of the historic center of Nazareth. The archaeological excavations from the 1st century are very interesting, but it's really the rooftop panoramic views that make this a special place. Very friendly staff too!Written 28 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- B TLondon, UK807 contributionsThere are beautiful coloured wall painting on the inside of the church that are nice to see. The church doesn't look much from the outside but it is interesting to see, it has more character than the catholic basilica of the annunciation a few mins walk away as that is a much newer church.Written 20 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Wilma LSomerset West, South Africa15 contributionsIt is a church built on the spot where Jesus, with his 3rd appearance to the disciples, roasted fish on the beach, and where Peter received confirmation of his calling. There is a statue in the garden where it is depicted: “Let my sheep feed”. The church is also called Church of the Primacy of St. Peter. The flat stone in front of the altar is the “table of Christ” = Mensa Christi. The 12 heart-shaped flat stones outside commemorate the 12 apostles. I light a candle here; then pick up some pebbles from the sea and could walk into and feel the waters of the Sea of Galilee.Written 19 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Gonen2014Haifa, Israel3 921 contributionsThe Salesian Church of Jesus the Adolescent is a Catholic church located on a ridge from which an impressive view of the city of Nazareth. It is one of Nazareth's largest and most magnificent churches and was designed by French architect Lucia Gauthier. Its construction began in 1906 but was discontinued during WWI, and ended only in 1920. The church was built in the Neo-Gothic style, and adjacent to it is the Don Bosco Vocational School, which previously (since 1902) served as an orphanage. There are many concerts in the church, and last Friday we sat in the church listening to "Gloria" by Vivaldi. It was great!Written 12 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
