Tayrona is the Latin America Hawaii. Beautiful beaches, rivers, waterfalls, and the forest is amazing.
We stay at Casa grande surf hostal near to the Tayrona Park entrance, very good location to go around everywhere.
The place is beautiful and the staff very nice. The food and drinks are delicious and have very affordable prices.
They offer relax and therapeutic massages, the best I have in my whole life.

Then we stay at Rodadero Santa Marta. Very nice beaches, great restaurants around the beach and in downtown. Wonderful city lo visit, and affordable.
We enjoy so much our visit to the Colombian Caribe.

I learned a lot from the self-guided tour about the history of the el Libertador! I loved how Santa Marta honors Bolivar and is keeping his memory alive.

The Quinta is amazing and very well serviced!

A very nice beach but very expensive if youre a tourist.. the prices are over inflated...just be careful to ask before you get anything...

I have read the below negative reviews. I promise this beach is always beautiful and clear. There are no rivers that enter this beach. I believe the below travelers are mistaken this beach for another. I’ve been coming to very month to this beach for 14 months. I promise this beach does not disappoint with its beautify. I read the lates review about there is no surf? Maybe he should have went to Cartagena or Barranquilla if he likes surf, though the water is not as clear there.

This is a tubing journey of almost 1:30 hours through the rio Don Diego. Beautiful place to see monkeys, different type of birds and have fun enjoying the scenery of the jungle all the way to the ocean. Adolfo was our guide and was really kind, assisting our kids all the time and giving us all the information throughout the river. Amazing place and very well organized. I suggest you do the visit to Taironaka and start from there the tubing

A great way to spend an hour, for a break from the pool and/or beach. Very recommended. Not huge so only lasts an hour or so.

So many good food options, shopping options and a grocery store. Really good security to keep out the buskers and very clean and well-lit. We went every night of our stay.

Stretching a few kilometres from Buritaca village west towards Santa Marta this is an untouched stretch of beach. Practically nothing on it. Walking along it every few hundred metres you might will pass a small guest house which offers sun beds to rent, or has a bar or restaurant. Most will be closed except maybe at weekends, a few open. The beach isn't suitable for swimming, large waves and currents. So what is there to do? Relax and enjoy walking along an empty beach. This means it is not swept, it is not cleared of natural debris like broken palm trees washed up but there is actually very little plastic and other rubbish washed up. Just a quiet relaxing time after a few weeks of hectic travel around Ecuador and Colombia.

One of the best rated beaches in the Santa Marta area. Long, long stretch of shore in the Pozo Colorado area, north of the airport. No heavy surf, clean water (although not crystal clear and turquoise like some Caribbean waters). You have to pay 15 to 20 thousand Colombian pesos ($5.50 to $7.25 at the time of this writing) for a spot that is shaded with a fabric covering. Heavily inhabited by roaming vendors that sell everything from trinkets to tourist tours and food. Perhaps too much so, in the way you are constantly being offered something to buy. Understandable being that tourists are probably the only source of income for many of these vendors, but after a couple of hours of saying “no gracias” one starts to get annoyed at the constant barrage. There should be some way of hanging a sign next to your chair that gives them the clue you are not interested. Hey… maybe the next time I’m there, someone will be selling these…!
If you are not interested in simply swimming, there are jet-ski rentals, and long inflatables that are pulled by power boats to ride. With the constant off shore breezes, I was surprised that there was no one kite surfing or para-sailing here. The wind was certainly strong enough to have made this a perfect spot for those activities.
Walking along the shore you can see the many hotels and condo complexes that open up onto the beach. The sand is fairly dark and almost black when it gets wet, so it heats up in the powerful sun to the point that walking barefoot is difficult unless you right by the water. Maintenance of the shore is somewhat lacking as well and there is a surprisingly large amount of debris and small litter over the beach. One would expect that what is touted as the best beach in the area would have crews out sifting out the myriad of bottle-caps, ice cream sticks, and plastic straws, spoons and forks. Recycling and eco mindedness is not new in Colombia in general, but ridding the beaches of litter is something that still needs to be improved in this area.

Nice beach not too far out of the bustling city centre. A cab ride from Old Town Santa Marta cost us roughly COP 17,000 or so. It was windy the day we went, and there isn't much for cover or shade on this beach so bring a hat! Water is warm and clear, however not the blue-green Caribbean colours that we all love. Also, the waves can be a bit daunting and there's a little drop off when you first step in, but nothing too serious, and definitely no dangerous undertow or anything like that here. We waded around in the water easily after the first few steps in and enjoyed ourselves and the quiet afternoon very much. Would recommend this beach :)

We stopped as part of our Guru walking tour. It was a lovely church, in a lovely square. There is a donation box so any donations appreciated.

It's the second time we've been there and we enjoyed it very much. Nice weather, large beach, great water, clear with a nice temperature, well preserved, clean. We stood under a tree shadow. We rent chairs to seat at 5000 pesos each. We also had lunch and a couple of drinks provides by locals. Each fish was 40000pesos, each drink 3000 for water at 5000 pesos for small beer or cola. The access sucks since the road has not been maintained so a jeep to get there is recommended if you go on your own, or by boat or bus from travel agency. Good place tho chill and close to playa cristal were you can get by boat if the playa cristal hasn't reach the maximum number os persons allowed. Recommended to go soon there to get best places.
