Nice little museum. A collection of the areas historical display from indigenous, settlers and more. The gold is fake but still nice to look at

We stopped as part of our Guru walking tour. It was a lovely church, in a lovely square. There is a donation box so any donations appreciated.

Upscale mall in Rododeros. If you want to avoid the street vendors in Santa Marta this is the place to shop.

We lived in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for a while, so it would take about 2hrs to get down into Santa Marta once a week. Buenavista was one of our first stops on arrival in Santa Marta. There is tons of parking and good security guards on the entrance and exit gates. The food court opens at 11:30 most days and has a good variety. There is one silly rule there, there are lots of columns with convenient 'seats' round them! Be ware these are not seats and security will tell you so!
The carpark is free which is great, but they could do with a bit more shade.
On the whole we enjoyed our visits.

Just another mall in Santa Marta. The name lends one to thinking that its near the ocean, and this is very misleading. I tried peeking across the cities expanse to find the ocean on the top floor, but I couldn't see much.

Apart from the Jumbo store inside and the array of fast food eateries in the food court, there is not much do see and do in this mall.

They do have a really great play area on the top floor, and an English ATM too

Great bar. Travelling solo and went to this bar twice. Fantastic music, great service, cold beer, air conditioned, really nice staff and just about perfect overall. Been to lots of bars in lots of places and i'm struggling to think of a better one right now.

Fell out of there in the early hours with a smile on my face, some great photos and a thumping head the next day. Will hopefully return.

La Puerta is an iconic place. Not only its longevity attest to that (17 years and counting), but mainly its dance floor. Tourist and locals get together under the spell of a musical cross over that knows no boundaries, only those of good taste and flow. Champeta, salsa, hiphop, merengue, soca, calpiso, bullerengue, cumbia. Coming here for the first time was a sort of baptism for me, never before had I heard all these genres together. Dancing is such a bit part of Caribbean culture, and with good reason. There is nothing fake or pretentious here. Only flow matters. El sabor! Plus, there is no cover.
Everyone is welcome, classism stays at the door. In many ways, it’s heaven on earth. When a place like this stands the test of time, with the flame lit as always, it transcends. Plus, if you’re a fan of art, please take a minute to appreciate the bits and pieces of it spread all over this place. Chacín, Guache, Josefa Zùñiga… her mural at the entrance, the letter she wrote and which gave origin to Oh La La, La Puerta. It’s magic.

A lot of the shops in Santa Marta carry very similar products... but not this one! Their collection is very unique. Our friend showed us this shop towards the start of our vacation, and then we returned right before we left and bought a lot of souvenirs for ourselves and gifts to take home.

If you prefer to buy products that are more natural & ethically-made, then you'll love this shop. Lucia was suuuper helpful and was able to give us so much info about the stories behind each of the products, who made them, etc. They have a great selection of coffees, chocolate, skincare, clothing, artwork, and more.

I definitely recommend checking out this tienda, especially if you like to shop small & sustainable when you can. :)

This place has really cool and high quality souvenirs with great variety, and also great customer service. I especially liked the t-shirts, and loved the mugs! Great place to buy souvenirs for your family and friends.

Very fun place with good music and great drinks. Place was very packed and didn’t feel as hot as it probably should have considering all the people in the tiny spot. All the drink prices are posted on the wall, so they isn’t any chance of getting ripped off for being a tourist. The place did have a small cover, but most good places do in that district. I went with the Cuban Mojito and it was big strong and tasted great!
