Love the staff at the El boqueron park, the fees is $2 (only cash) and it's great, it as a small food shop and museum and a path well manageable with maps and scenic view point to take great pictures, it's definitely worth the ride there, just ridding up there was a thrill itself, you can definitely see the lake and other volcano and this entire San Salvador city from up there and the El buquaron volcano is small but nice to see. The stairs are the hardest thing to do otherwise it's pretty easy path

Today's vagabond way to see the volcano without spending too much if you are located in San Salvador:
Uber to the site = 40minutes because of the tiny mountain roads it takes a while to get up there from Santa telca but very fun to explore and see, very tropical and beautiful with a high concentration on tourism you can find many attractions parks, hotels and restaurants on the way up to the national park.
    Cost $7.50

Next pay your entrance fees: $2 cash

Enjoy the view points and climb up the stairs to see the cratere and volcano or see the mini museum and buy souvenirs on your way out

Eat lunch: $3.50 with a coffee or soda
With a volcano and lake view

Walk down for about 1.5miles and follow the autobus sign when you see it and there you are, just wait for the big chicken bus that says (Santa Telca) takes about a good 45minutes , runs very slow down the mountain and pick up many passengers, the views is great and cost=20 cents

Get off by the Plaza in Santa telca and enjoy the mall then take the bus that says Metro Centro or San Salvador for 20cens back.

    Total cost $13.50
That includes:Round trip from San Salvador+Entry to the park+buses to Santa Telca+ Lunch Meal

Compare to $50-90 Advertise tour trips that takes hours to pick up people and don't even include the park fee .

If you exclude lunch it's $10 total or if you buy a souvenirs $15 max
If you don't without the Uber on your way there it's : $6.50 total

If you wanted to do it with Uber from Santa telca $18 total . You could take a Uber or taxi from the volcano to San Salvador but the cost is much higher from there and if you pay them cash it's around $20-30 one way witch I don't recommend.

The grey role in a side street of liberty square is rather brutish and to be honest ugly from the outside. The bell tower and the cross seem like an after sort, but on the inside the rainbow windows give it a stunning beautiful light.
Additionally the twelve station made from rebar and concrete are outstanding.

very unique archaeological site. One of the curators at the museum was very kind and gave me walk around the site and told me all about it. This is the only village of this size that can be seen today and was discovered by accident in the 1980s I believe, definitely worth a visit.

The botanical garden tucked away in a valley in a residential area of a little mountain village was gorgeous and the tour was fascinating. Our guides were exceptionally engaging—and very funny. We learned so much about the environment. Our visit here was a highlight of our trip.

The owner is an expert on orchids and was instrumental in creating a program that saved the ruby throated hummingbirds in the area affected by a major earthquake several years ago. This was very important because it’s the only hummingbird in the Eastern US and it winters here.

The number of birds there was impressive, including nests of motmots.

A must visit on the way to Poas volcano or if staying in San Jose.

This was definitely the spot to be at night, as there were so many restaurants and bars everywhere. The atmosphere was very cool, and it felt safe all around.

I noticed this beautiful lake when I was flying into the san salvador airport. Like many lakes here, this lake is actually inside of a volcano crater. There is a beautiful park that only charges an entry fee of $6. The park includes some really nice outdoor restaurants, a nice swimming pool with various slides, a lighthouse, There is is a beach with swimming areas and picnic areas. The highlight of my visit here was the nice boat ride that only cost $15 and O included a $5 tip for the great experience. You feel like you are inside of a soap bowl because of the steep slopes around most of the lake area, since you are inside of a volcano. The park is very clean, safe, friendly workers and a great place to get some rest and relaxation. The only bad portion of this trip is that you have to deal with the horrible san salvador traffic scene, since this lake is just outside of the city limits.

It is a good place to run or take a walk offering you with various paths to wander around. It is a well-maintained tranquil place surrounded with trees and greens to escape from the city.

I took a walking tour in San Salvador, and it started with a walk through Cuscatlan Park. My guide Estafanie gave me a great tour, and the history of the monument there. The 12 year Civil War memorial is absolutely beautiful, and shows every person who lost their lives throughout these dreadful times. I highly recommend walking though the Park and check it out.

This definitely got my attention, as this is all about the 12 year Civil War that decimated this small country nation. The monument is several large plaques that have everyones name who was killed or die throughout these suffering times. Reminded me a bit of the 9/11 memorial in NYC.

Awesome Atmosphere, good food and great cover bands! Prices are very affordable, the mixologists are international grade. The place is clean, spacious, comfortable and free of smoke.
The stage its awesome, gives bit a nostalgia for those acquainted with other Irish pubs and small theaters where great rock bands used to play in the 80's. If your visiting San Salvador and want to go out, sing your lungs out with your friends while having some good food and drinks, Republik should be included in your list of destinations.

My tour guide Mr. Alfredo Diaz is a very dedicated person, he paid attention to every detail throughout the tour, he gave me a detailed introduction of the sites and I appreciated the fact that Mr. Alfredo Diaz has a wealth of knowledge about history and natural sciences. He held an umbrella for me when it rained. He opened the door of the car for me after visiting each attraction. At lunch time, he introduced me to delicious and inexpensive restaurants for lunch. The best part of the trip was that he took many high quality photos of me at each place of interest. Mr. Alfredo Diaz's high quality and excellent service left me with good and pleasant memories of this trip, he is one of the best tour guides I have ever met, and I hope to meet him again the next time my friends and I come to San Salvador.

This is the only Bowling place in San Salvador, at least the only real Bowling experience, but it's old, the machines will make you feel you went back on time to VGA monitors, and most of them are damaged, but still in working condition.

If you want to have fun with your friends, this is a nice option, not that expensive as it's around $18 per hour, and $1.5 or $2 to rent the shoes, which by the way are also old, so check them before using them, if they are in bad shape, ask for another pair.

The bowling floor is in good condition, so the whole Bowling experience is ok. They have a system that every 30 mins, they turn off the lights and everything glows in the dark!

I traveled solo to El Salvador for 4 days in April 2023. Based on their great reviews, I contacted EC Tours. Vanessa and Yesenia listened to what I wanted to do and created the perfect itinerary for me. They were very responsive and great to deal with prior to the trip. Once I arrived, I spent 4 days with Alex and Lisbeth (Merari), who were so kind, friendly, fun, professional, and knowledgeable. I visited the Mayan archaeological sites, hiked the Santa Ana volcano, and did the Ruta de las Flores. On my last morning I had some extra time, so EC also arranged a city tour of San Salvador for me at the last minute. All of the activities were well-organized and interesting. I truly feel like I got to see and do so much in just 4 short days. But the best part of the trip was Alex and Lisbeth, who went above and beyond several times to ensure that I had the best possible experience in their country. For example, we got back earlier than expected one afternoon so they took me (and accompanied me) to the National Anthropology Museum, after I had mentioned that I wished I had more time so I could visit it. They didn’t have to do that - it wasn’t an included activity and they could have just gone home for the day. But they are excellent at what they do and take so much pride and care in their jobs, their main concern was that I got to do everything I wanted to do while in El Salvador. I cannot gush enough about how amazing these 2 people are - it was like I was hanging out with good friends for 4 days! I highly recommend EC Tours and will definitely use them again on my next trip to this amazing country!
