Love the staff at the El boqueron park, the fees is $2 (only cash) and it's great, it as a small food shop and museum and a path well manageable with maps and scenic view point to take great pictures, it's definitely worth the ride there, just ridding up there was a thrill itself, you can definitely see the lake and other volcano and this entire San Salvador city from up there and the El buquaron volcano is small but nice to see. The stairs are the hardest thing to do otherwise it's pretty easy path

Today's vagabond way to see the volcano without spending too much if you are located in San Salvador:
Uber to the site = 40minutes because of the tiny mountain roads it takes a while to get up there from Santa telca but very fun to explore and see, very tropical and beautiful with a high concentration on tourism you can find many attractions parks, hotels and restaurants on the way up to the national park.
    Cost $7.50

Next pay your entrance fees: $2 cash

Enjoy the view points and climb up the stairs to see the cratere and volcano or see the mini museum and buy souvenirs on your way out

Eat lunch: $3.50 with a coffee or soda
With a volcano and lake view

Walk down for about 1.5miles and follow the autobus sign when you see it and there you are, just wait for the big chicken bus that says (Santa Telca) takes about a good 45minutes , runs very slow down the mountain and pick up many passengers, the views is great and cost=20 cents

Get off by the Plaza in Santa telca and enjoy the mall then take the bus that says Metro Centro or San Salvador for 20cens back.

    Total cost $13.50
That includes:Round trip from San Salvador+Entry to the park+buses to Santa Telca+ Lunch Meal

Compare to $50-90 Advertise tour trips that takes hours to pick up people and don't even include the park fee .

If you exclude lunch it's $10 total or if you buy a souvenirs $15 max
If you don't without the Uber on your way there it's : $6.50 total

If you wanted to do it with Uber from Santa telca $18 total . You could take a Uber or taxi from the volcano to San Salvador but the cost is much higher from there and if you pay them cash it's around $20-30 one way witch I don't recommend.

The grey role in a side street of liberty square is rather brutish and to be honest ugly from the outside. The bell tower and the cross seem like an after sort, but on the inside the rainbow windows give it a stunning beautiful light.
Additionally the twelve station made from rebar and concrete are outstanding.

very unique archaeological site. One of the curators at the museum was very kind and gave me walk around the site and told me all about it. This is the only village of this size that can be seen today and was discovered by accident in the 1980s I believe, definitely worth a visit.

The botanical garden tucked away in a valley in a residential area of a little mountain village was gorgeous and the tour was fascinating. Our guides were exceptionally engaging—and very funny. We learned so much about the environment. Our visit here was a highlight of our trip.

The owner is an expert on orchids and was instrumental in creating a program that saved the ruby throated hummingbirds in the area affected by a major earthquake several years ago. This was very important because it’s the only hummingbird in the Eastern US and it winters here.

The number of birds there was impressive, including nests of motmots.

A must visit on the way to Poas volcano or if staying in San Jose.

I visited this museum my first day before I joined an organized tour of the area. It was a good place to start learning about the history.

I could have spent the whole time in the room with early musical instruments and the beautiful recordings of the instruments being played!

About half the information was translated into English although the slightly darker print against a black background sometimes made it harder to read.

There was a good section on the incorporations of Africans brought to the area as slaves.

I noticed this beautiful lake when I was flying into the san salvador airport. Like many lakes here, this lake is actually inside of a volcano crater. There is a beautiful park that only charges an entry fee of $6. The park includes some really nice outdoor restaurants, a nice swimming pool with various slides, a lighthouse, There is is a beach with swimming areas and picnic areas. The highlight of my visit here was the nice boat ride that only cost $15 and O included a $5 tip for the great experience. You feel like you are inside of a soap bowl because of the steep slopes around most of the lake area, since you are inside of a volcano. The park is very clean, safe, friendly workers and a great place to get some rest and relaxation. The only bad portion of this trip is that you have to deal with the horrible san salvador traffic scene, since this lake is just outside of the city limits.

A trip to the top of Volcan San Salvador and El Boqueron National Park is a must if visiting San Salvador. It is a 30 minute Uber ride from the Zona Rosa area of San Salvador. Make sure you arrange for the driver to wait or return as there is no cell service at the top. It is a short mildly strenuous hike from the parking lot to the overlooks of the crater at the top of the volcano. We spent about 30-40 minutes hiking at the top. Great views of San Salvador from the road up to the top. Plenty of restaurants and cafes with spectacular views along the road to the volcano and at the top.

To visit the site of the assassination of Saint Oscar Romero and to hear of great his concern for social justice even unto giving his life for the poorest citizens of his country was extremely moving!

We took a tour with a University student who spoke very good English. The tour got a little tedious in parts but was very good overall. The tour lasted about an hour.

The Center is named after Saint Romero but most of the focus is on the massacre of Jesuit priests and two women that occurred at the site. The tour provides a good explanation of the massacre and other aspects of the war. The Cathedral is also part of the tour and has some interesting art.

I would consider it a must-see sight if you want to learn about the Civil War.

Located on a busy roundabout in central San Salvador, this statue of Jesus on top of teh world is a pretty good find. Most recent upgrade of it was in 2010. Local skateboarders seem to enjoy the area too. Crossing the busy roads to get to the centre of the roundabout is probably the only challenge involved here.
