- Mg1mcsc7 contributionsWe went around 5pm and were very surprised having not been there for around 4 years it was clean, smart but still lots of atmosphereWritten 20 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DavePakChepstow, UK29 contributionsIf you only have time to visit one Buddhist temple then this is the one you have to see. We were blown away by the beauty and calmed by the atmosphere. We really felt like we left the busy city and had walked into another world away. It was so peaceful.Written 5 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ann MKuwait986 contributionsBustling w business early in the day. Tried three different dishes and all tasty. Lines weren’t bad because it was earlier in the day. The place is kept clean and only about 75 percent open.Written 1 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jacob ESingapore, Singapore4 contributionsThis place has great information about the area. Although I've not really ventured a lot as a tourist I found this place very informative and I got to learn something new.Written 2 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ILSGSingapore, Singapore33 contributionsFabulous, the time-slider interactive maps are great, the overall city plan shows why singapore is singapore, the history and future plans are all well presented.Written 15 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- scrapnyakGeraldton, Australia49 contributionsGreat Satay Sticks! We were staying nearby and walked down to this street. They kept the beers coming and we enjoyed a mix of satays. 7 & 8 were the busiest, but all were keen to serve. I didn’t like having dirty old menus shoved at me from all directions however kinda felt sorry for the quiet stalls once I settled into the atmosphere.Written 3 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ILSGSingapore, Singapore33 contributions$6 per person to go up to the top and get a fabulous view and walk about 500m around it all to see 360 degrees of SG.
Ticket Management office is a bit hard to find down a small passage past the dentists and it closes 1-2 (helpfully) but certainly worth an hour or two of your time for the viewsWritten 11 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Grover RPensacola, FL15 204 contributionsSingapore is known for its Hawker Centers and this may be the most famous do to its appearance on Crazy Rich Asians. We spent the morning visiting temples and shopping in Chinatown. While it was a couple of blocks we simply felt we had to visit. I got chicken and rice and my wife got the dumplings. The food was great and we enjoyed the ambiance as well. The architecture is impressive and as a bonus the center is on Robinson Road for all the Robinsons out there like myself.Written 27 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- J&S_SingaporeSingapore, Singapore3 457 contributions天福宫 is nestled in the Chinatown area which boost many cultural & historic buildings. It is along Telok Ayer Street, near to Boon Tat road. The Taoist temple is dedicated to the Sea goddess Mazu and traced its history back to the early 1800's.. I learned that the Temple originally faced the sealine (there has been much land reclaimed over the century).!
Like most established Temples the entrance hall has one main door and two side doors; the entrance leads directly into main courtyard. From here one can see the temple proper where the shrine of Mazu is located centrally. On either side of the temple are pagodas with octagonal base, very symbolic of Chinese good fengshui. Guarding the doors are stone lions and Door Gods.
The temple grounds may not be big but its altars and buildings and pillars are uniquely ornated/ carved. Bright red lanterns hung from the tall ceiling, making it a delightful and Instagramable sight. The temple is richly decorated with coloured tiles, gold lacquered wood with figures of dragons-phoenix too. Somewhat resembled the Taiwanese Temple I visited in January at Taipei, just before the COVID-19 halted ALL travels!
This temple is small so one probably spend 30 mins or so. Definitely well maintained, and there are explanation in both Chinese/English to cater to visitors. Nearby are eateries, cafes and other religious places so it make for a good trip-visit for all.Written 8 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Chelsea BMilton Keynes, UK1 905 contributionsThere was a ceremony going on so we didn't feel comfortable entering the temple but there was lots to admire from outside. On top of the temple sits 6 tiers of brightly coloured Hindu Deities, making it one of the most impressive looking temples I've seen.Written 15 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- GreenbayNew Taipei, Taiwan928 contributionsNew buildings with various restaurants and renovate urban park above Tanjon Pagar Mrt station will just astonish people passing by. Either the stylish skylines or the greenery path ways certainly relax and release urban tensions.Written 18 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- G2KpaulyMelbourne, Australia1 426 contributionsI went into this mall afew times while in Singapore to get Sim card, food and supermarket. It's not too big but has the shops that I needed.Written 17 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- kim buay pSingapore, Singapore11 016 contributionsPagoda Street got its name due to the majestic gopuram (grand tower) at the Sri Mariamman Temple's entrance. Chinatown MRT exit A opens to Pagoda Steet.
Most of the shophouses here were built around 1843 and some were holding stations for coolies. One well-known firm for the coolie trade here was Kwong Hup Yuen at 37 Pagoda Street. This street is also known for its opium dens to serve the coolies. There is a heritage marker at 34 Pagoda Street as it was formerly an opium den.
The Chinatown Heritage Centre (No. 48) is strongly recommended to understand the lives of tenants in an authentically conserved shophouse.
At the back alley of No 83 is a mural by Yip Yew Chong titled "Mid-Autumn Festival".Written 27 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Sherin N108 contributionsA short walk from Chinatown. It has a gigantic hawker center. For those who don’t know what a hawker center is, it is like a huge food court. U can find an array of stalls serving all kinds of Asian food at cheap prices. Inside the hawker center there’s a fixed stall that sells drinks & another for desserts. We bought different food from different stalls (Peking duck, noodles, rice, Indian chicken tikka, lentil & chickpea curry, naan bread, & skewers of chicken, shrimp & beef. We enjoyed eating together & sampling the delicious variety. Sticky mango rice pudding was a sweet end to our meal.Written 13 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- irenesiahSingapore, Singapore394 contributionsJust within 5min walking distance from Chinatown MRT (Exit A), Temple Street (just beside the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple) has amazing wall murals that will capture your attention even from afar. Definitely great for anyone who likes to know a little more about the country and the local Chinese culture with some visuals. Great for photography as well.Written 15 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
