Really an amazing venue for dance, music, singing, concerts, even very interesting international artists.

Outstanding skilled performance of stunts, dance and acrobatics by men, women and children in colourful costumes. Visually thrilling. The theatre itself was a bit run down and unkempt looking. We had reserved seats, but were told to "sit anywhere". We selected seats near the back and had a great overview. Strict instructions were given about no photography or videoing .. but still people chose to ignore this. However, the show itself was amazing and the acrobatics astounding. Highly recommended for an evening's entertainment.

We went on a week day hoping to escape the crowds but it was very busy with people nonetheless.

You can purchase tickets when you arrive at the gate. Perhaps going in winter wasn’t the best idea as there is less greenery and quite freezing for the kids with few inside areas to escape the cold. As a result we went through the palace in about one and a half hours.

The display has expanded to include a section at the beginning that shows the renovations of the palace which was interesting as I had been here over 15 years earlier.

One of the most beautiful gates was the Floral Lintel Gate 垂花门 . In fact you may not notice the gate as you walk through it, but if you turn around you will see it’s beautifully painted and decorated to look very flowery.

Some inner ceiling sections of the garden corridor were repainted with exquisite paintings so this was really delightful and wonderful to look at. Really enjoyed the rooms which were also beautifully decked out. The lake was almost frozen over, so you could see the fish swimming slowly in that section which did not have the ice sheet.

Roads in that area are quite narrow and a little tricky to get Didi car.

The forbidden city was incredible and as there's nothing to actually do but walk around you could think it's boring but the place is so majestic it's definitely a must.
    Pricey but justified tickets.

The metro stops just before it so getting to it is easy but be careful about where you meet up with people if you go as a group and split up as you can't go out the way you went in.

We attended a performance of the Acrobatic Show at the Chao Yang Theater in Beijing. It was the very best acrobatic performance that we had ever seen - far surpassing any of the acts that we had previously seen in ability, skill, variety, and numbers. I don't think that photography was allowed so we have no photos of the performance to share, but the quality and skill of every act and acrobatic performance remains in my mind. Don't miss this performance if you have the opportunity! It is well worthwhile!

It's pretty much cold on the outside, temp is warm in the inside. Classical theater layout with lots of history in it. There's a small museum beside the hall and a restaurant too. My king of place.

One of the highlight of this theater was that the show came with chinese and english subtitles to allow audience to understand the story. The show was 1 hour long and just nice for me to experience what Beijing Opera was all about. I highly recommend this place if you would like to see Beijing Opera in a short time.

The costumes, performers, and musicians were all top-notch. A teleprompter provides an English translation. The venue is cozy and intimate. I am not an opera fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I would see this over and over!

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Show went for an hour so a good introduction to Peking Opera. English translation on the sides which was helpful. Highly recommended.

Not sure this is the same one that we saw, but if you have an opportunity see The Legend of Kungfu. Energetic presentation that follows a small boy who becomes a master and reached his goal of enlightenment.

Haidian District, the economic and technological certer of Beijing, always shows its unique scenary.I am going to talk about my wonderful trip in Haidian.

Haidian Theater is located on Zhongguancun Street, near the Haidianhuangzhuang Subway station. It has an attractive shape, that is a well-designed combination of straight and curve lines, and also has great plays performed in it.Both the classic and the modern are showed, meaning you can learn lots about Chinese culture from it.

Besides culture,Haidian also has many modern malls. In Zhongguancun, one of the most famous and the biggest technological and economic center in Beijing, there are a lot of shopping malls, including computer part markets and other electronic product markets. From here, you can feel the most advanced technology in Beijing.

A trip to Haidian can be very short but valuable.Go to Haidian District, and know more about Beijing!

We have seen the acrobat show and it was a very Beijing touristy thing to do and we did enjoy it. I wouldn’t see it a second time, but it is worthwhile seeing it once. The theater which isn’t a horrible venue also showcases some other attractions. My children love Paw Patrol and there was a live adventure play put on there and so we had to visit again. The kids loved it!

As another reviewer say, this is a lingering taste of the cultural revolution. The impact of the political and theatrical cultural differences make this a slightly surreal experience. It doesn't matter what's on, what you will see all around, on and off stage, is a fascinating set of differences. What's not to like about that? Recommended

I believe this show is called 'World Champions' Kungfu Show" or something similar. This was a well executed, entertaining show that had one amazing kung fu feat after another. A unique performance I would recommend for anyone who is staying nearby. Easy to find next to Beihai North Station (Exit B) and convenient location near Qianhai Lake, there is a Starbucks nearby!! :)

As the previous reviewer, couldn't enter the website but just searching for Shichahai Theatre came up with their working site where it was easy to book the tickets in advance. Payment was at the ticket window before the show started.
