This place always updates their exhibitions, I just visited there to see an exhibition named: Elizabeth Peyton: Practice. It shows many paintings and those eyes are truly the spirit of those paintings.

This contemporary art gallery is worth the trip. It is beautiful and peaceful but for some of the spots you need patience to be able to get to take a photo as there are lots of people here in the weekends. Beautiful cafe inside that is also worthy of visiting.

This was an old watchtower back in the day. This is one for the few building left from the dynasty eras. We came in too late to see the gallery but the building itself with worth the visit.

It is a bit of a challenge still to get to 草场地 (Caochangdi) art district, because at least half of the taxi drivers don't know how to get there. However, if you (like me) find 798 art district too commercial and lacking in real art, then you will thank yourself for making the effort to get here. Lots of small galleries mostly showing interesting new Chinese and foreign artists, with affordable price tags as well! There are a couple of pretty good coffee shops, but here it is all about the artworks and artists.

This place is fantastic. Exhibitions are very interesting. The good relationship with the New Institut Franco Chinois in Lyon is important.

Last month,I went to the National Museum of Classic books with my mother.I broadened my horizon at that place and I primise it won’t be the last time.
At first,we went to the exhibition of the Yongle Canon.I felt like I came back to China in the 15th Century,We can know many culture and history. That was really amazing.
And then we went to the next exhibition. That was useful and meaning. There were a lot of beautiful poems and classic literature.I thought Chinese culture is worth studying and researching.
Finally,we learned a great number of the customs of the Spring Festival! It was great fun!
In the end,I really recommend this place to anyone.

It’s been reported on newspaper that the community is going downhill and many artists moved away.

We drove there to check it out ourselves. It’s a huge area, spread out with big n small galleries, and many artists studios. Many are locked up and empty. If you don’t have a car to drive up and down the street, it’s quite difficult to find a shop on foot.

We found a nice restaurant called Gourmet Lounge. It offers Italian and German cuisine. We had a very relaxing lunch to conclude this trip to Songzhuang.

Three shadows is an amazing photography art center with a series of interesting exhibitions, spacious venue, friendly staff as well as calming atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting during your stay in Beijing.

When I visited there, they were having an exhibition of photography award organized by them every year, which I enjoyed very much to observe talented young and emerging Chinese photographers.
Along with the exhibition, they also have commercial gallery spaces called +3 Gallery in the venue, where you can enjoy a temporary solo exhibition and a collection of the gallery that presents not only Chinese artists but also international artists including established Japanese photographers such as Shoji Ueda, Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama.

Although it is absolutely free for you to see around the place as you like, I suggest to enter from the first space on your left side after entering the entrance gate so that you can go around the venue as wandering about each space, +3 Gallery and then finish at their book shop/cafe/court yard. You can enjoy book shop while you have a sip of drink.
