What travellers are saying
- Liezel BlignautSouth Africa304 contributionsStill looks beautiful from outside, and clearly well-maintained. I enjoyed the display banners timeline since it was built. I was surprised that it was voted by a few media as one of the top train stations globally!Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liezel BlignautSouth Africa304 contributionsWalked out with a few items - difficult to resist the colourful items made and sold by locals there. They are great influencers. I have been to markets in many countries (including Asia) and the prices are not cheap here. Have to negotiate which is accepted.Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- silaremAdjuntas, Puerto Rico561 contributionsWent to spend some time in quiet early on Saturday but seems that an event was happening so I only stayed for ten minutes. The interior is very unique but I couldn't find the Tabernacle, if it was what I think it was it didn't have the red candles so I couldn't identify it.Written 29 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LindyPlettenberg Bay, South Africa17 contributionsThe exhibits were interesting but some rooms or walkways were not accessible due to maintenance needing to be done. We found the outdoor dinosaurs fun and some of the indoor exhibits very interesting though. Worth the visit, just wish it was in better shape.Written 30 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liezel BlignautSouth Africa304 contributionsWe didn't go inside, but it was really interesting to see it from outside and know the history of who designed it, where it was pre-built, for whom and then never lived in.Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jurgen BBrussels, Belgium2 848 contributionsWe have seen better markets, but that goes for almost everything in Maputo, so defenitely worth a look. Food and non-food here, lots of wigs.Written 17 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LindyPlettenberg Bay, South Africa17 contributionsIt was interesting to see the old cannons and walk around inside but it would have been better if there were a guided tour on giving some more facts and history. The exhibits inside were also good.Written 30 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Serge GMakati, Philippines265 contributionsThe Museum of the Railroads of Mozambique is a treasure of colonial architecture that is well preserved, clean, and interesting. There are antique train engines on view and the building itself. It is a must see on any visit to Maputo.Written 26 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Liezel BlignautSouth Africa304 contributionsWent in for a relaxing stroll. Extremely clean, peaceful, and only a few locals (seems like great place to escape the office), and safe.Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liezel BlignautSouth Africa304 contributionsReally well-maintained, still as white as if it was painted this month. Went inside for a peep, but not as impressive inside as from outside.Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liezel BlignautSouth Africa304 contributionsDrive through the roundabout and you can't miss it. Area was quite (for a city roundabout) and very clean. - C R286 contributionsStart your bargain with a tenth or third of the price and work your way up to a compromise. For example, the T-shirts started at MZN 8000 but whittled it down to 4K. They also use the line that you take pity by paying the exorbitant price. Not for the soft-hearted/gullible tourist or else get ripped off.Written 11 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NunoRosarioMaputo, Mozambique128 contributionsGood experience. A simple way of getting away from Maputo. Good lunch and easy ride (don't go in February or September as the chances of getting bad winds are high. It's the perfect attraction for early Winter in April or May. I hope they do more Sunset Cruises as it is the perfect way of seeing Maputo from the Bay. Haven't had a chance to do one of those.Written 14 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
