What a great experience. Learned about the culture in addition to cooking. The food was delicious and Florence and her husband were great.

Being a big biltong fan, this was a great short course with many cultural insights. Lots of my questions answered amd know I'll be improving my own biltong making with the many takeaways from this experience:)

Just had a Benguela cove wine safari. We were warmly welcomed and shown around the entrance lobby and art gallery. The gardens are wonderful and the views quite amazing. We were told how Benguela came to be and of Penny Streeter the owner and founder of this exceptional place. Our guide was Valentine and we had such a wonderful time. He was informative and passionate about the wines and the estate and despite rain and wind he gave us a truly enjoyable experience. We were driven around the beautiful estate with wines offered along the route. Stunning scenery with samples of the grapes grown there. Definitely worth visiting. Exceptional value.

Relaxing way to spend a few hours and learn a few recipes. Our host was friendly and informative, happy to chat about cooking and living in the cape area. Having cooked a few simple dishes we got to enjoy them over an equally relaxing lunch.

We had an absolutely amazing experience learning to cook a variety of delicious South African dishes! The class was small and intimate, with just four participants, which made it feel personal and engaging. Our instructor, Belinda, was exceptional—she gave each of us just the right amount of attention, ensuring we felt confident and involved every step of the way. It was not only fun but also incredibly enriching, and we left with newfound skills and a deeper appreciation for South African cuisine. Highly recommended!

Not only did I have the chance to taste delicious gin, but I was also taught how to make it and even got to try making it myself.

The drinks I made didn’t taste as good as those made by professionals. Even with similar ingredients, I learned through experience that the drinks crafted by professionals are more refined and require intricate techniques.

If there is one thing you cannot miss in Cape Town this is it.
Started with a tasting of excellent wines from the farm.
The show itself was absolutely fantastic. The energy and dance and singing in a small venue was some of the best we have ever seen.
The singers/musicians were just amazing and the energy was infectious.
Especially loved the participatory section at the end. My 10 year old grandson had an absolute ball.
Then lovely braised food and marimba music afterwards capped an incredible afternoon.
    Pricing was very reasonable also

One of the activities on our city sightseeing bus ticket.
A bit out of the way to find, however the staff were nice. We did taste test and learnt some things about making chocolate.
They were very accomodating as we got there late but they still did the taste testing tour for us.
Recommend going to support local business. All chocolate is made with beans from Tanzania.

Fun and informative session. The knowledge of the presenter was very good. Also good to actually make the drinks as well.

Annika was a warm and welcoming host. We had a great time learning about the ingredients and how to cook Amagwinya, Cape Malay chicken curry, Roti from scratch and Malva pudding. Of course, we then had the opportunity to eat these delicious dishes. So good! As there was only two of us it was so much better than joining a large class in a big commercial kitchen. We also enjoyed the conversation and the opportunity to learn a little more about life in South Africa. If you enjoy cooking and exploring new cuisines and you are looking for something different to do beyond the usual tourist trail, this is a must-do experience in Cape Town. Thank you again to Annika for a wonderful day. This was our first Traveling Spoon booking and certainly won't be our last, Anne and Paul.

We had a great experience with Colleen and Ruth! They were warm and inviting, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the trip was an easy drive from the downtown area. They were excellent communicators and were easy to arrange the evening with. Bonuses: gated parking, lots of leftovers, and delicious vegetarian option!

This place was recommended to us by the manager at Clarendon Hotel. The meal consisted of shared plates of eight appetizer dishes, and four entree dishes. My wife and I like spicy food so we really enjoyed the experience and the food. Our friends are less ‘spice-friendly”, so they did not enjoy their meal nearly as much as we did.

The band started playing nice background music at about 7:30 PM, and the patrons had some great frolicking on the dance floor for the group birthday celebration ( for any customers who were there to celebrate a birthday).

Best way to start your day with a breakfast tasting at 9.30 :-)
2nd stop was loaded with interesting stories. Highly recommend the pinotage burger. Wine blending was fun and nice to have souvenirs of the trip. Our guide Robbie has great tips and info, and not having to drive made the day even better! Thanks for a great day!
