#1 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
We explored both parts of the park, taking in waterfalls and rainforest life, as well as exploring the highest peaks, lava rock hillsides and unique silver swords.
There are lots of great hiking trails, waterfalls, and the park rangers take great pride in the park and have lots of awesome information about the parks' history.

Haleakala Crater Haleakala National Park
#2 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
There’s a great US National Park interpretive Centre just after you enter the park, where you can ask naturalists questions and learn about what makes Haleakala so unique in terms of birds, plants & geology.
Haleakala Crater is a dormant volcano located within Haleakala National Park, which covers the summit area and extends down the Hana side of the mountain, all the way to the ocean and includes the Kipahulu area, w...

Just north of the town of Hana, this state park features Hiking Trails, a Black Sand beach, Lava Tubes, Small Caves, a Blow Hole, Gorgeous Flowers, Picnic Tables, Bathrooms, and some ferrets.
The trail and black beach at the park itself are well worth a visit but our early start gave us wonderful views of Red Sand Beach, a swim in a waterfall, and Haleakala State Park trails.

Hiking the Sliding Sands Trail in Haleakala National Park was a highlight of our trip to Maui.

Great snorkeling at Ulua Beach Park, but it's also good at other spots, including the rock outcropping at the Mana Kai.
Nature is awesome.
#7 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
Here you will find trails to hike, a maze to walk through and meditate, and look-out areas where you will witness blow holes, rock arches, crystal clear inaccessible "swimming pools" that nature carved into massiv...
... Kapalua Bay is very scenic and a bit rocky so you have to watch were you are stepping the second part is in front of the Ritz Carlton Hotel and although pretty it is liking walking next to a park or golf course.
#8 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
What a spectacular park and beach.....perfect location....great swimming and perfect waves for body surfing....
Kamaole Beach Park 1 or KAM 1 as it called locally is one of the best beaches for paddleboarding and OC1 because of its close beach parking lot access to the beach and easy walking ramp. it also is a great swimmin...

For anyone that loves hiking, wildlife and nature, this place is awesome.
This lava tube, a freak of nature, erupts every 20 seconds with some blasts as high as 100 feet in the air, depending on the surf that day.
Wailea Beach Wailea
#11 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
We stayed at the Andaz - great hotel, perfect location, and you can go for long beach walks and discover nature, or bars.
A state park at the tip of wailea is beautiful and great place to see whales during whale season, bring binoculars for this

The park has incredible views from the north beach, courageous surfers navigating powerful waves and sea turtles!
There's a lookout area right when you first turn in off of highway 36 near mile marker 9 and if you want to drive down and park near the pavilion you can take a stroll down the beach and see Honu (turtles) lumber...

Napili Beach Lahaina
#13 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
It has fun nooks and crannies so you can park yourself under a tree and feel like you are semi-secluded despite the crowds.
There is no parking lot, so everyone parks on the sides of Lower Honoapiilani Road above the beach.
#14 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
Beautiful walk through lava rock from Maui's last volcanic explosion in 1790 AD. Park by a black lava beach and follow the trail south which meanders thru beautiful coves of black rock and white sand and blue ocea...
This is a Nature Reserve and has some of the best snorkelling on the island but the fish bring in the Tiger Sharks and they sometimes close the area - watch the signs.
#15 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
Located in a National Park , great day for a walk, and at the end of the trail is beautiful waterfall, picnic lunch a must.
We love nature and this state park was right up our alley, You hike thru this massive bamboo Forest to get to a beautiful waterfall.

#16 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
In my opinion "Kam 3" Beach Park is the best in South Kihei ... swimming, snorkelling, beachcombing, shady areas; access to Eddie Pu hiking trail which connects to beach walking, all the way to Wailea .......
I stood next to a humongous one sunning off the nature trail leading south from this beach (which is a great walking trail if you're here), and saw them in the surf eating off the rocks on the south side of the be...
#17 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
For us, this path begins in the Kehei direction (Keawapu Beach park), quite a bit before the Grand Wailea, and terminates at the parking lot and restroom facilities at the end of the walk.
You can park for free at one of the beach access points (Polo, Wailea, etc), just be sure to get there early, or do your walk in the evening when the lots start to empty out a bit.
Kapalua Beach Kapalua
#18 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
Kapalua Beach park, at the beginning of the Kapalua Coastal Walkway, is perfect because it offers so much and is close to the Napili and Kaanapali areas.
There are restrooms and showers located at the entrance to the park, watch out for the sharp reefs and would be a good idea to wear water shoes, bring a cooler with drinks and food and you would enjoy this piece o...

Great Beach and Park just to relax and enjoy the wonderful maui weather.
Camille Beach Park II is a safe swim, wide and beautiful beach framed in-between lava rock outcrops.
Maluaka Beach Wailea
#20 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
Yeah you have to park up the hill and its a little bit of a walk but there is a great lawn grassy area, nice bathrooms and showers and just enter the surf and head south to the rocks for tons of turtles!
We drove along the coastal road and turned off at every road toward the beach and discovered several beaches including Makena State Park which extends a long distance along the shores.
#21 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
We also downloaded the app Shaka Maui which gives perfect directions to park and hike here, I highly recommend the app for your drive.
Be warned this is very difficult to access and one has to take great care but if you are fit and able you will be overwhelmed at nature’s incredible beauty!
Ulua Beach Wailea
#22 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
Get there either from the beach or d'ornement Kalahana drive from Wailea Alanui drive, free parking just above the park, restrooms and great showers for snorkler or dive-gear rinsing, exquisite family beach & reef.
This is the perfect beach for families, with shade, soft sand, amazing snorkelling reef, shower and bathroom facilities and a decent size car park.

Weather permitting there is usually a donation based yoga class on Friday mornings at 8 A.M. then afterwards there is a Hawaiian crafts fair set up on the board walk just to the North of the beach park.
Just north of the park area is a living reef that is a great place to snorkel.
#25 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
After passing by the Beach Parks, you will drive a windy beautiful drive along the ocean through an exclusive Makena area.
We also bumped into a Park Ranger, who was very friendly and informative.

With just a short drive north of Lahaina/Kahana, you can see beautiful countryside, ocean views, colorful cliffs, and this wonder of nature.
The blowhole itself is quite impressive and we enjoyed spending some time watching the power of Mother Nature and the ocean and rocks interact.
#27 of 147 Nature & Parks in Maui
This place is awesome, from the min you park (which could be challenging, few spots) you take a long walk in nature, amazing trees that are so large.
Many others have stated this, but after you park (just before or after the little bridge) you walk a little ways thru a great jungle area with magnificent trees and wild chickens to the old boat launch and get rea...

One of the many stops you can make along the Road to Hana is the Honokalani Black Sand Beach in Wainapanapa State Park, well worth the time to explore!

The great part is they bring you into the park before it opens and your family if you choose and they give everyone a tour of the facility and then the divers get ready for the dive.
I love that it is educational & connects nature with the history of the Hawaiian people.
