The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History is massive, so it’s good to pre-plan to make sure to hit the highlights. For us, that included:

FIRST FLOOR: Dinosaur skeletons, Fossils, and Land/Water animal and sea life. American Mastodon, Easter Island Moai statue.🗿
SECOND FLOOR: The Hope Diamond along with an incredible collection of minerals, gems, and jewelry gallery-including Marie Antoinette’s earrings.

Pack your patience, because it can be quite crowded during the summer. A must-do when visiting DC. Free Entry, but timed tickets required if you want to visit special exhibits (Butterfly Experience) on the second floor.

Definitely worth the time. Very well put together from the 1400’s explaining the very beginnings of African slavery through today. Lots of reading and takes 2-3 hours minimum. Loved the history portion and the musical culture exhibits.

The Lincoln Memorial is one of the top destinations in DC. Entry is free, and we decided to visit at night when the air was cooler and there was a bit of a breeze.
The statue of Abraham Lincoln is much larger than it seems in photos, and the side walls are engraved with two of Lincoln’s speeches. It is a place filled with honor and thoughtful reflection. Also, make a point to stop near the top steps to find the marked location where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered the historic “I Have A Dream Speech”.

Wow, I was blown away. Such a beautiful, moving experience. I could have spent all day in there, but we only had a couple of hours. A must see!

I had never thought of visiting the library before but so glad we did. The structure and interior are a sight to behold. We spent a lot of time reading the various quotes on the wall and admiring the architecture. Jefferson's library was pretty cool too

Had a great time here! I've always been big into the history of aviation and being able to walk around and see the planes was awesome

We visited here during an evening guided tour. I twas late in the evening and it's situated just below and to the left of the Lincoln memorial as you stand with the memorial behind you. However, the memorial has the names of every American soldier who was a victim of the war and what's impressive is that the names start in 1959 from half was down the memorial, and in a circular route come back to the last victims of 1975, right next to this. This was a deliberate act by the sculpture. The names are listed from the date they were listed as casualties, while at the top of the monument are catalogues in a rain proofed lecturn detailing everyone's names.

    • Multi-use, including bikers and joggers

    “I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… during my visit to the Capitol and so many of the museums and the monuments.

Sure- it can be crowded and congested with multiple recreational and sports activities, and temporary and permanent construction, but I loved it.

I was especially thrilled to be there for the 2022 annual folklife festival- ah, how I loved and treasure my memories of my presence at and participation in the 1974, 1975 and 1976 festivals

It was sobering to see that it was more of an ecological. conservational and climate-change tour event, heavily sponsored by the United Arab Emirates, which barely existed then- to say nothing of what’s a foreign country doing sponsoring our national festival on our front yard.

Any exhibits of native or district cultural stuff was absent- I was a woke to that.

    TIPS
It’s not a question- go there

The Korean War Memorial is impressive at night. It is located a very short walk from the Lincoln Memorial and is also much less crowded. The memorial grounds are almost silent as you walk by the realistic statues of soldiers and the memorial wall.

I don't normally enjoy art museums, but this has an element of history that makes it a must-see for me.

Did a incredible job with every aspect and all details. Beautifully and wonderfully done in every way.

    The museum just has little bit of everything.;
    History
    Technology
    Information
    Artifacts
    Artistry
    Multimedia
    Video
    Hands on

To go through all of you need an entire day. There is just a lot. Probably need more than one visit. Depends how much you read about each exhibit or artifact .

Learn and see it all from the beginning until present day . Top floor has moving/rotating special exhibits.

The view never gets old and never disappoints. The most annoying part of the entire experience is actually getting the times tickets 30 days in advance. But totally worth the trouble for the view.

Nice town with a lot of boutiques. A great whisky/bourbon/rye store.
We walked all the way up and down and to the river to have a glas of wine

A really nice place to go when you are in DC
