The gardens and grounds are pristine, the views of the green mountains are awesome, the mansion is exquisite, and the organization of the tour of the goat/cheese farm and the Pullman car is first class.
The views are spectacular and the Docents are very informative and knowledgeable on all things Hildene and the Lincoln family lineage.
The Dog Chapel Saint Johnsbury
There are pews and an alter, feel free to stop and pray or just take in the tranquility of the chapel and surrounding fields and views.
There is a gift shop on the property that supports the upkeep of the chapel, picnic tables, a pond and a breathtaking view outside.

This bridge has history and well worth the trip, the view, even a canoe trip below the bridge to see its structure.
(they got a beautiful badge to show they are now rangers too! they loved the trails to get them around the area, and even though it was raining, it was a wonderful view.
It lets you hike, relax, enjoy the views, attend ranger-led programs, and for those who are younger, earn a Junior Ranger badge.
After you visit the Rock of Ages Quarry, you must drive the short distance to Hope Cemetery and view some of the most marvelous and unusual headstones you will ever encounter.
There is a race car, a soccer ball, a chain, and loads of other unusual carvings on the headstones at the grave sites spread over rolling hills.
There is a very nice ice cream shop on site that sells excellent, local Vermont ice cream made from Vermont dairy cows!
I would highly recommend taking the time to view the video with the farms history before you venture out into the touring areas.
Vermont State House Montpelier
We appreciate that the grounds are available for an informal picnic, a game of frisbee, or just a place to sit on a bench and view the beautiful gardens (in season).
And in back of the State House, you can climb the hill to the stone tower in Hubbard Park -- great views from the top.
Take a little of Vermont home with you -lots of Vermont products- handmade; maple sugar, candy, creamee etc. Enjoy your creamee while you view the Green Mountains!
The farm is nestled among the Vermont hills with it's scenic views surrounded by the colorful hardwoods in the Fall.
Any restaurant you visit has delicious food and there are plenty of street vendors to visit as well. There are eclectic stores and you can walk the street and take in the sites.
