Unlike the €9 observation tower at St. Peter spire in Riga, this viewpoint offers panoramic views of one of Europe’s oldest medieval cities. Tallinn sits atop a limestone escarpment that overlooks the sea.
The Viewing Point of Kohtoutsa is on the northern side of Toompea hill and is an excellent view of all the red roofs and spires that Tallinn is famous for and the Gulf of Finland.

Locals in the Square sell touristy tchotchkes, stunning textiles, and the butter/eggs come in the form of exquisite pastries Even for the most travel-budget challenged, this is a must-see site.
Worth the €2 to climb the tower for fantastic views over the old town, it's a bit of a climb and the stairs are quite steep in places but plenty of places to have a well earned beverage when you get back to ground...

The climb to the top of the tower is a bit treacherous- some steps are high and spaces tight- but the view is well worth it and this combined with the pub underneath were our favorite stops in Talinn.
It a landmark of Tallinn and is located in the south side of the ancient market square.

Great fun walking the walls that provide good views of Old town Tallinn...the walls are well kept, accessible and when we were visiting lined at the foot of the walls by beautiful gardens
The shop itself had beautiful hand-painted cradles as well as more usual souvenirs - and a great view.

... windows, high massive columns, arches, vaulted ceilings, beautiful chandeliers but beyond all, to climb the narrow winding staircase to the tower's viewing platform to really enjoy the sights of the Tallinn City.
It is also a good idea to do the climb early during your Tallinn stay as it provides excellent views and a good way to find your bearings in seeing Old Tallinn town as well as the more modern parts further away.

The second you pass the Viru Gate you are in the middle of medieval Tallinn - walk around and breath in this amazingly preserved UNESCO site.
Most people stop and take the opportunity to photograph the red roofed watch towers before entering the UNESCO world heritage site within.

Visit the very old St. Catherine's Church, currently having some renovations done, but interesting to view and understand the entire church complex.
