What travellers are saying
- Tyles76Gillingham, UK204 contributionsThis was one of our favourite museums we have ever been to. Really incredible.
Such a great mixture of visuals, sound, interactivity and subjects. Something for all the family, plenty to keep you interested for hours, as well as some high impact content for those with less time to spare.
We can’t recommend it more.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Definitely worth visiting.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Michael CDerby, UK2 011 contributionsWe visited this attraction as part of a coach tour of Wellington. The views from the summit are stunning and large areas of the city can be seen This is a great place from where to get a general view of the whole city.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael CDerby, UK2 011 contributionsThese are lovely gardens which we accessed by way of the cable car. All the gardens are lovely, and the views across the city are also very good. We had an enjoyable afternoon in the gardens.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michael CDerby, UK2 011 contributionsThis is a lovely old wooden church which was almost demolished a few years ago. Fortunately, this architectural gem is now preserved and is well worth a visit. The interior still has a real spiritual feeling about it.Written 11 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Coastal655760743936 contributionsAmazing tour by an outstanding tour guide. Our grandson loved the opportunity to stand at the lectern that became a household known view, after all the Covid updates. A place every New Zealand should visit as it is our own place.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian DDarlington, UK963 contributionsThe walk along the bay has to be one of the prettiest fronts you can see - and when the sun shines it is virtually unbeatable.
We had sunshine and had such an amazing walk around the bay.

It was set out on 4 floors with both stair and lift access. The history in the museum was not one-sided but covered the settlers arrival and the Maori traditional artefacts and stories. The saddest thing was to sit and watch the old black and white film footage of the stories about the sinking of the Ferry Wahine in the Wellington Harbour on 10 April 1968 during a catastrophic storm event. This Museum is free but does allow for cash donations in a designated container. This Museum is not to be missed when you are in Wellington.Written 4 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jodoh2017Lifton, UK20 contributionsA great day out with our 14 year old grandson. We decided to attend all the scheduled animal talks, which was an excellent way to navigate the zoo. All the rangers were enthusiastic and knowledgeable and kept us really interested. We were lucky to see up close nearly all of the animals.
A special mention to a volunteer James who spent the day looking out for us and proved to be a great spotter. He really helped us to make the most of our day and is a great ambassador for Wellington Zoo.Written 26 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From the moment I stepped onto the grounds, I was greeted with stunning architecture and beautifully manicured gardens. The guided tour provided fascinating insights into the country's history and governance, and I was impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. Exploring the elegant rooms and learning about the important role the Government House plays in New Zealand's democratic process was both educational and inspiring. The grounds were simply breathtaking, making it a truly memorable experience. I highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in history, politics, or simply appreciating the beauty of New Zealand's capital city. If you get the opportunity to tour you should definitely do it!Written 13 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jean1963Plainfield, IL18 contributionsThe Interislander is a great way to travel between the North and South Islands. These are huge boats and you can even bring your own car. It’s about a three hour trip between Wellington and Picton. I tend to get a bit seasick, but not if I’m able to stand outside and enjoy the gorgeous views. I’ve seen plenty of seabirds, including an albatross, and dolphins following along side. I was in NZ in 2023 but didn’t take the Interislander this trip. I have a few times in past visits.Written 29 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
