Beautiful place to stay (recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site), with stunning architecture. Lots of cobbled pedestrian only streets, wonderful churches and palazzos to look round plus lots to recognise for Montalbano fans. It is geared up to tourists - lots of restaurants to choose from - but not on the same scale as the other town in the area which is rather nice.
If you don't have a car, you can take public transport to the nearby (and not so nearby) towns and beaches. There is also a train station.
