What travellers are saying
- Cme1234Singapore, Singapore469 contributionsThis wall is probably the only attraction and reason to visit Ávila.
The views from the walls are amazing but unfortunately, we had joined a day tour and the guide rushed us through. We only walked a very small section of the wall but we still managed to take some very cool photos.
Not really worth a full day trip to Avila unless you do it together with Segovia.Written 2 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My wife and I went to Avila on a day trip from Madrid. The entry fee was a little steep and we had limited time, so we didn’t go inside.Written 17 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trisha PMilton Keynes, UK206 contributionsThese caves are spectacular! I’ve never seen anything like them. It cost just 10 euros and was worth every cent! There are plenty of places to park, get food or drinks. Our sat nav was short of the location, so I would advise to keep on driving if at first you see nothing. The roads a good all the way there and the sign posting is also good.Written 19 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RazorfishLittle Rock, AR3 866 contributionsMy wife and I visited Avila on a day trip from Madrid during a visit this past spring. Our guide took us to the Basilica de San Vincente at the end of our tour of Avila. It is very impressive on the interior of the basilica. The gold plated altar is beautiful and the carvings on the martyrs’s tomb is very colorful. The Basilica is not to be missed when visiting Avila.Written 18 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wedwardesLondon, UK167 contributionsI arrived at 11:30 and throughout my one hour visit I was the only one there. The entry cost of €4 is good value for the solitude.

- EC13091Ellicott City, MD1 248 contributionsWe were here in the days leading up to the feast day, so we felt we should see this. It was a nice church but not terribly notable in our opinion, and we didn’t stay long (partly because Mass was about to begin). But if in Avila, you should go. - RazorfishLittle Rock, AR3 866 contributionsAvila is a wonderfully preserved medieval city. It is very clean without any graffiti. The walls surrounding the old town are in good condition. The Catedral de Avila, the Basilica de San Vincente and the Convento de Santa Teresa are three of the impressive buildings in Avila. Is easy to walk through the medieval part of town in an afternoon. My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Avila.Written 18 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
