- SeafarrwideSydney, Australia2 contributionsWe love this village and have now stay twice. The first was 2019 and again august 2023. It’s truly unique and such a stunning location up high but central to the whole Radda in Chianti region. We had a rental car and saw many popular medieval villages and wineries on our day trips. The first time we stayed in an apartment with garden access and straight down to the gorgeous pool overlooking the valley. Such an ancient village but beautifully restored. All the four restaurants serve delicious food and the night time its magical. Our favourite is the casual authentic Bar Ucci owned by Paola. Paola makes everyone feel important and like a friend. We loved the food! The actual Castello di Volpaia has its own winery which is cleverly hidden behind the historic structures of all the buildings in the village. We did a wine tasting day with a tour inside one afternoon. It was amazing to see the underground and inside the winery. The biggest wine vats I’ve ever seen and they produce the majority of the Chianti Classico wine in the region. We highly recommend staying here a minimum of 3 nights or more.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kathleen L29 contributionsSuch a nice visit! The wine tour was wonderful and then we sat down for lunch. Wow, we were seated in a beautiful historic room and the food was homemade pasta that I still crave. The wines were lovely and paired well with the food.Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - A_Traveling_NorsemanPhiladelphia, PA73 contributionsMy wife and I stayed for 3 nights based on her parents recommendation after they had been here about 10 years earlier. We loved it here as well. The cottage was quaint, comfortable and clean. The pool was 50 feet away and nice and refreshing after sightseeing all day. The cottages are located right in the middle of Tuscany so great location. We also enjoyed the tour of the mill where the olives are fermented into oil. The owners are also wonderful.Written 13 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GazzaPLiverpool, UK7 contributionsFantastic setting to sample the excellent wines of the Chianti region. Francisco was knowledgable, informative and approachable. Was lovely to see the vineyards and cellar before the tasting with an overview on the production of the wine. A highlight of our trip to Tuscany and great value! - Kathleen L29 contributionsThis was a lovely tour and tasting. The wine person, sorry I don't remember his name, was very attentive and nonweldable. The wines were excellent and we ended up buying wine to take home for dinner.Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I believe our guide’s name was Hilary, and she was fantastic. Her English was flawless, and she was warm and friendly. The winery is completely organic, and we saw a state of the art wine making facility. We were served a light lunch, which was delicious. We started with their Spumante, which was excellent. Their signature wine is Chianti, and we tasted Chianti Classico, Reserva, and Gran Selezione. Each was different, but they were all delicious. There was also a white wine, Vermentino, I think, and it was also very good. The tour and the wine tasting exceeded our expectations, but what stands out in my opinion was our guide. Ms Hilary did an outstanding job!Written 29 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DianeGrande Prairie, Canada25 contributionsWe stopped at this winery twice and both times the owner was there to talk to us and let us try her wines. She was most knowledgeable on the procedures and how the wines were made, also on the grapes and how they take care of them. We had a fantastic time trying the wines and visiting, we left with many bottles of their wine.Written 14 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trail8226381 contributionAfter wine tasting in the afternoon, I was so happy to sit down and enjoy a delicious pint from this brewery while my wife explored the nearby shops. Sometimes a cold microbrew is what you want, even in the famed Chanti region of Italy.Written 18 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
