- Martha S1 contributionThis is a beautiful place. It's been very carefully developed to give a real insight into historical life on Ios. Helen is a brilliant and knowledgeable host and the food she and her husband produce is absolutely top quality.Written 17 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Arthur McCannUnited Kingdom247 contributionsThese churches on the hill, can be seen from down in the town, and look amazing when they are lit up at night time. It is a bit of a climb up all the steps to get to them, but, once at the top, your effort will be worth it, whether it’s night or day! This is where most people gather to watch the sun set, which is also amazing to see. The churches were not open, unfortunatley, but you get a 360 degree view of the island whilst your up there, so it’s well worth seeing. 👍🏻Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neill B20 contributionsA Beautiful tiny Naturist Beach easily reached from Chora Town. It dies require a walk and so you need to be fit to get down to the beach. Although it's not too far from the car park above. If you walk down from the town (and back up again) it is quite steep so it's more easily accessed by car.. then it needs a walk down to the beach.
The beach itself has lovely sand and the water is crystal clear. The bay is also quite sheltered but if you have a portable sun bed I would take it if you want to avoid sand blowing on you (it depends on the wind direction lol).
This was tbe only official naked beach we found on Ios but it was great andcworyh the walk.Written 29 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Gialos beach just begins at the harbour settlement and especially in the first part is organized with sunbeds, umbrellas for rent and with cafés and bars behind the coastal road. There are toilets, a first aid station and the beach has received a Blue Flag certificate from the FEE.
If somebody doesn't want anything organized there is the possibility to just walk further down, where there are no umbrellas, just some tamarisk trees for shade, almost the only one's I have seen on Ios' beaches. Being very shallow for a long time Gialos is a good beach for small children, but not ideal for swimmers.
To be able to really swim one has to walk for quite some time through a muddy kind of sand and then comes plenty of seagrass, which is a sign for clean water, but when swimming (crawling) there my hands constantly touched the seagrass and it felt a bit like going through a meadow.
Being at the end of the quite long Ios Bay and facing southwest the Gialos Beach is protected from the Meltemi, the common wind from northeast during the summer months.Written 1 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The drive was scenic and beautiful, amazed at all of the rock fences and terraces built over the years. As everyone says, there's not much structure once you get there but the view is spectacular and the history of the spot is great to experience. Certainly recommend this as an option to see more of the island and visit a site that may be truly historic or not - we'd like to believe it is!Written 16 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CHRISTOS KThessaloniki, Greece310 contributionsThis is beach is close to yialos. Sandy and quiet beach but with scattered rocks in the sea front. There are sunbeds. On the left side they are cheaper but on the right side they are more luxurious- but overpriced 25 euros per double sunbed. The nearby Greek tavern " koumpara" is a very good choice to taste Greek food and fresh fish but it is quite expensiveWritten 17 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gerald P4 contributionsI really enjoyed the piece. I hiked my way to there but it worth all of the sunburns! However, I am sure that in a few years time, this paradise is going to be commercialized.Written 14 February 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marta ASofia, Bulgaria272 contributionsA quiet and secluded beach, almost deserted. - Jane DLeamington Spa, UK384 contributionsA lot of time and money has been spent on the pathway - it’s fantastic!
It’s about a 15min walk from the road, the views are outstanding. If you have a car and head to Psathi beach it’s definitely worth stopping at and walking to. Take water with you as in September it was hot hot hot!Written 13 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
