Well worth a visit, gardens are well kept and when the weather is nice you can sit in the grounds and picnic and go up the castle keep for the wonderful views one of the nicest castle and grounds we've visited

... showed us around was a fountain of knowledge and will entertain you with the history of the Fort (actually a Redoubt), its historical significance and the plans that the volunteers have to revitalise the site.
Easy parking , very interesting area , the views are great ,and good local history ,well worth a visit ,there is a cafe there ,but better popping in the pub on the right on the way.
