Tucked away in the heart of Nicosia, Cyprus Museum stands as a testament to the island's rich cultural heritage and artistic diversity. From ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces, this museum offers a captivating journey through Cyprus's history, art, and culture.

Upon entering Cyprus Museum , visitors are greeted by an impressive collection that spans millennia. From intricately carved statues of ancient deities to delicate pottery fragments dating back to the Bronze Age, each artifact tells a compelling story of Cyprus's storied past.

I certainly had my eyes opened when we went to Nicosia.
I was expecting tacky run down tourist stuff and then we found this.
Photographs do not do the building justice.
    Go and have a look.
There are also plenty of nice looking places to have something to eat and drink in.

I fully recommend crossing into the northern controlled part of the city, it’s such a marked contrast as soon as you enter. The crossing itself was straightforward both ways. There’s an immediate feeling of being in a totally different city - the ‘western’ global players (Starbucks, Costa, ect) are gone, being replaced by a more independent trader type of establishment.. more rough-and-ready, run down in places and well worth a walk round. Turkish based food at cheaper prices was good. Pop back and forth across the border as often as you like, there are alternative places to cross that crop up as you wander around, along with the oil-drum barricades and fencing. It all makes Nicosia a far more interesting city than it would perhaps otherwise be.

Panagia tis Asinou Stunning small church – a must see!
Located high up in the Troodos mountains, and a tortuous 3 hour drive from Paphos is this remarkable and beautiful small church. To be honest, without Google Maps on my phone I never would have found it. Even then there were moments when I didn't think I was going to! The church is completely isolated, and when I visited in September the nearby cafe was closed and so there was nothing except an old man keeping an eye on things and adequate parking space around. I have read accounts about how you need to be properly dressed with long trousers and covered shoulders and how photographs are not allowed. In my experience, turning up in shorts and a vest I was able to take photographs both with and without flash and the elderly gentleman who was the curator of the church did not seem to mind. I think he appreciated my 5 Euro contribution! The church has spectacular frescoes. They show Bible scenes from the New Testament of Christ being baptised, healing, washing the disciples feet, being crucified, ascending into heaven, and many other stories from the Bible. There are, of course, also Saints galore, a large ‘dormition of the Virgin Mary and a beautiful Christ Pantocrator (judgement) figure at the West End of the church. There you will also see on the right four small frescoes of a monk and nun being punished for their sins. If you can work out what they are you are more intelligent than me! Of all the painted churches in the Troodos this has to be the best and if you can only see one it is the one I would recommend.

This attraction is worth it simply because of the views.

We paid 5.00 EURO to enter—2 persons.

There are sweeping views with explanations of what you see in each direction.

We spent about 10 minutes at the tower. Seemed like enough.

The museum was so cool, a relief from the hot street, some really interesting displays, liked the costumes so could imagine the people using the pots etc. Plenty of seats on first floor to look at exhibits, unfortunately second floor closed at the moment for refurbishment

Impressive building. Be aware God gets offended if you turn up with shorts especially if you’re a woman. Or maybe the monks get tempted. Or both.
Apart from that it’s worthwhile the visit.

On the Turkish side we wanted to visit this mosque, but unfortunatelly it’s closed because of renovation. We would like to come back after reopening it. Originally it was built aa a Gothic church, and the kings of Cyprus were crowned here. It was called St. Sophia Cathedral until 1954. Nowadays it’s the main mosque of Nicosia.

Beautiful church, at which I arrived 10 minutes before closing, and took oodles of photos. And there was a man at the back, who closed the church after I left, when it became 3 pm. Sadly, a small group arrived and faced a locked door. Perhaps the no photos policy has changed, though it was in evidence near Paphos at the Troodos Mountain monastery.

Definitely one of the better museums in Nicosia! It's quite modern and has nice exhibits - it has a collection of A.G. Leventis' personal art collection from Cyprus, Greece, France and Italy.

Good for a few hours on a rainy day or when it's too hot to be outdoors.

The museum is a very interesting place, covered in history. There so many old and different motorcycle to see. If you're passionate about this, then this place is heaven for you. The staff is very nice and passionate about motorcycles. He presented us most of the motorcycles he has there and also repairs them. You can also buy cool souvenirs. Do not hesitate to go there!

This monument was made in 1973. It’s located in the center near the Famagusta gate and a large park. The statues remind us the history of Cyprus. We sat on a bench for a while and relax. It’s worth a short visit and some pics.
