English Version Costas Apostolakis was born in the village of Nochia Kissamou. A village where the art of pottery was flourishing for centuries. He received his first knowledge from his father and grandfather and started to craft his own ceramics at the age of eight. He has studied in the Art School of Athens and Graduated in 1968. With a total of five years of experience in workshops and another ten years of teaching the art of pottery to children with special needs in the art school of Chania he started running his first workshop in Kissamou Street. After 14 years in the city center, he moved to the coastal village of Maleme and he has been working and creating ceramics there ever since. He has received a number of Laudations from art festivals in Crete and Athens and the original handcrafts have been aprooved by EOMMEX (association for small businesses with handmade products) and therefore carry the stamp of authenticity. In the Maleme workshop you can find one of the richest in colours, crafts and sizes collection of handmade ceramics in Crete. All created with non-toxic and environment friendly materials and colours, glazed and double-baked for maximum endurance and quality. Apostolakis Ceramics have been exported over the years to the United Kingdom, Norway, Finland, South Sweden, Israel and have been used in Restaurants, Galleries, Family run Businesses as well as Festivals. We are open daily from April until the end of October. It would be a pleasure to meet and guide you through our collection and history in order to share the love we have for this art. We have visited this place every year since 2019 and always a new piece of pottery to remind us of our stay and have trouble deciding what to take as there is so much choice. Staff are always very friendly and helpful and always package up your purchases well. See you next year

The regae bar has a couple of live music nights and was worth the 15 minute walk from our hotel. Good evening but I wouldn't travel from one side of Crete to the other just for one bar.

Found this lovely shop during our stay in Maleme (June 2023). Such a lovely lady who explained all about her products and gave us the "Raki" samples.

My husband bought Ouzo, Raki and olive oil and I purchased the some beautiful cosmetics. The orange olive oil body lotion is to die for and the beeswax face cream is just wonderful and so moisturising. I also have the olive oil soap which is so pretty with a flower pressed into it.

If you are in the area and want good local produce then visit this shop! Amazing.
