I visited Praia Formosa’s beautiful golden sand shores with Smatur tours. There was time for a quick walk along the beach and photos. The water was refreshingly cool on an August afternoon that was over 25c and humid.

Such a lovely place. Stunning waterfall with a height of 70 meters. We have spent a good hour, taking photos and looking at the waterfall. Recommended!

Sao Laurenco was a stop on my tour with Smatur. It offers amazing views of Praia Formosa below. There is a rest area with benches and recliners to admire Santa Maria’s stunning ocean and mountain scenery. The weather the first week of August was hot and humid, but we also stopped at the beach to cool off.

Fantastic views and worth the slightly tricky drive. Venue at the top was closed as it was Portugal Day but being so quiet added to the experience

Amazing experience, lovely people, great places. A must to really experience the essence of Santa Maria, which actually is the kindness of people and the beauty of nature. Couldn't recommend it more.

Just like all other Miradouro in Azorea's a well kept clean spot with a excellent view.
This particular spot as a picnic area with grills so your stay can be minutes or hours.

This is a unique environment. You can walk along the edge and admire the red desert of the Azores. There is a sign at one access point so you can read about this environment.
