What travellers are saying
- MarcusHurleyBristol, UK8Â 394 contributionsThis is a place of contradictions. There are no 'must see' buildings here but the distract has a great historical feel. However there are a lot of derelict or severely run down buildings and the streets are blighted with tagging and graffiti almost everywhere. They are clean though and we didn't feel unsafe at any point but there is a lot of wasted potential here. There is a reasonably long stretch of town wall with a few towers but it is utterly ignored and unkempt. The train runs just in front of it and there is also the terminal for the island tours and ferries where people also gather to watch the sunset.Written 13 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Judy G6 contributionsStayed 1 night in this elegant Palace. Lovely surroundings and fantastic food in the restaurant. Just one little criticism, the prices of drinks were really expensive. Save your money and have a drink in one of the little bars in Estoi Village. Otherwise, it was a real treat to stay here.Written 6 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SebastianDBDublin, Ireland828 contributionsIt will cost you 2 euros to go and see the church and the small garden at the back.
The main churchits a bit small inside but has some wood work that will take your breath away. You have to see it.
And then you will see some sign to follow if you want to see the chapel made with human skull and bones. Not much to see byt there is something not to be missed.
Overall OK.Written 4 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Kelly MAtlanta28 contributionsBeautiful baroque style cathedral with a museum and the opportunity to climb to the tower for amazing views and close up views of the church bells.Written 20 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LocutusZurich, Switzerland222 contributionsLarge modern mall close to Faro airport. Apart from a wide variety of shops it also has a cinema, large food court and an Auchan supermarket. A good time to go is in the evenings when it is less busy and it’s also a but cooler. There is both underground and above ground parking.Written 20 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Beatriz MDüsseldorf, Germany5 111 contributionsIt is a very short visit at the cost of 2 euro, the Bone Chapel is small compared to other Bone Chapels I have visited in Czech Republic and Evora. But if you are in Faro, I think, why not visiting.Written 26 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LuizDutraNetoRio de Janeiro, RJ8 618 contributions"Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve" is a quite interesting and live museum! It brings freshness and creativity to Faro. Visit its permanent exhibition - "Das Estrelas à s Estrelas" ("From the Stars to the Stars", in English), very instructive and designed for kids. it links "galactic stars" to the "starfish" found at neighboring "Parque Natural da RÃa Formosa". Three aquariums and interactive spaces complete the scene. Science workshops are available for kids between 5 to 10 years old, and even birthday parties can be held at its premises. If you are staying a few days in Faro and brought your kids, they will certainly enjoy the visit. But for adults, it may be not so interesting. Enjoy!Written 19 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CymroCoimbra, Portugal3Â 344 contributionsMuralhas de Faro does not relate to the tiled murals, which can be found at different locations in the city. Muralhas can be translated as walls. The Great Wall of China, in Portuguese, is: A Grande Muralha da China. As you walk around the old city you will encounter the walls at numerous times. It is possible to follow them around a considerable part of the Old Town, but I did not. Interesting to see.Written 13 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Mick MMonasterevin, Ireland64 contributionsTook a day trip through the estuary and Cape St Mary. Good scenery. Great views and photos from the top of the lighthouse. Refreshing to find an attraction which had free entry. Was impressed with the antique tools and workshop equipment and immaculately environment. Queuing for entry for more than 30 minutes in the August sunshine was the only downside.Written 21 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Emily BDurham, NC23 contributionsThis is an awesome brewery! We went before catching our flight out and had a great experience. Staff were super accommodating and let us try lots of things and all the beer was excellent. Their German Weiss is one of the best beers I’ve had. Good vibes all around and would definitely recommend!Written 26 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
