The cottages are simply designed and perfectly kitted out. Nicely spaced apart providing each unit with privacy. The swimming pool provided respite from the heat. The bird hides were well maintained and well positioned for great bird viewing. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and will be returning this winter.

When I arrived it seemed to be quiet. Soon after a father, his daughters and another elderly couple arrived. It turned out that he grew up in the Town and could point out some facts to me.
It is the most interesting Museum ever and the entrance fee is only R15. Children of to-day doesn't know much about the History and the people who risked their lives to go out fishing.
I have always been curious as to how tinned foods are sealed. There is a monster of a machine and you can even try your hand at sealing a can (at a small cost).
There are model ships including the Dromedaris, on which Jan van Riebeeck arrived in the Cape in the year 1652. The museum would like to encase the Dromedaris but lots of funds are required.
There are also fishing nets and lots of pics of fishermen of years before. If you grew up in Laaiplek or Velddrif you might find your family history there.
There are pics showing how much fish some little boats caught that the boats almost sank. There are pics showing how Whaling was very active and there are pics before the time of the bridge over the Berg River. There is even an old pic of Kalk Bay.
There are some deep sea creatures with name tags.
If you remember Glenryck tinned fish you will see those cans there as well as other canned products.

I went to the spa on a Sunday, for a full body massage. When I got there I realised that there was a promotion going in, a mani-pedi-massage combo. I asked the therapist, Gcobisa, whether I could make use of the promo. She agreed, even though it meant an extra hour of work for her, resulting in her working until 7 pm on a Sunday evening. And she did a great job too, really tried to undo the rather stubborn shoulder muscle knots. She's a real asset to the spa.

The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is the limited range of nail colours.

Sandpiper proved to be the perfect choice when I planned to propose to my fiance at the time, now my wife. They carried out my instructions to the tee. Very accommodating. Hospitality is great. They went above and beyond with our requests and requirements because I wanted to make sure that it happens just like her father explained to me how she wanted her her dream proposal to be one day: It must be on the water in a yacht just in time for sunset and with violin music playing in the background. And Sandpiper Yacht Charters pulled it off with their great knowledge and timing of the sea and conditions. They are great value for money especially when on a very tight budget. I highly recommend them especially as a very special romantic way to propose or just for a romantic cruise.
